What source are you getting your information from that tells you the broken gun photos are being taken out of Context?

Why did you rebarrel it? I can't imagine it required a new one after only 14k.

So according to this test, this would be a reliiable 'knock-around' gun?

I've used my Rail Gun in two shooting matches so far, and put probably 1,000 rounds through it since I've had it, and it's been rock solid the whole time.
Had a couple of failure-to-feed malfunctions with the CMC 10-rounders, but that might also have had something to do with there being no lubrication left on the slide rails after a few hundred rounds. Once I started using Permatex Anti-Seize lube on the slide rails, I've had zero problems of any kind. I wouldn't hesitate to carry my Rail Gun anywhere, now that I've had a chance to break it in. |

I bought one about a month ago but I've only got about 300 rounds thru it. Not a single malfunction yet. Mine is the brushed finished version. I do, however, have an issue with the finish. I have some rust on the frame which I can't get rid of. I really don't want to send it back yo Colt, but its looking like my only option.

Thanks for the link and the info. I am thinking about buying one after Christmas and this just helped push me closer to making it happen.

Squirt some CLP or similar oil on the rust, then take the punch and scrape the rust with the very edge of the strike face until you see it float up off the surface. There will be some brass residue on the work surface, but that should brush off with a little more oil. For more stubborn rust, oil the surface with more CLP and try a small section of fine steel wool stretched over a pencil eraser or similar item. Go lightly, a little at a time, wiping the oil and observing the effect of the scrubbing every so often. When you get the rust off, soak the entire pistol in a pan of CLP for about two or three days. I do this with all my guns right after I get them, and I have yet to see rust, even after shooting in rain and humidity. |

Very nice. Glad to see yours works.
I have a low serial number CRG and it is a straight jam-o-matic! It will only feed about 2 out of 3 rounds. It is getting ready to go back to Colt for a second time. I can't say how frustrating it is. Wish mine was half as reliable as yours. |
