THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT

I've had a Defender for about 9 years now, and it really has'nt given me any problems, but recently I took a friend and his 11 year old kid to the range and they BOTH had extraction/ejection issues. The guy never shot a 1911 of any kind before, nor did the kid. I shot it after they did, and everything was fine for me.
So, do you think this could be a case of the novice shooters "Limp Wrist" thing, or what? I'm thinking of taking it in for a reliability tune up, as I'd like this to be a carry gun option.
Any thoughts ??
Thanks

Yep...limp wrist does it again.

I've picked up a few really nice pistols on the cheap because the owners didn't know how to shoot them.

If it 'magically' works for you, after FTE problems with novice shooters, then I would also have to agree with the 'limp wrist', poor grip, bent elbows, etc.

I have a fairly new .45 Defender Lightweight and it did FTEs when I let a young novice shoot it last month. He also missed the huge tree from 20 ft, and I know the sights are fine.

Prob a good idea to change out springs, inspect innards, maybe do some polishing in there if you plan to bet your life (and loved ones) on the thing.
Nine years is a long time, especially if used &/or carried alot. Sweat, dust, humidity, lint... all take their toll. Do what brings "Peace-of-Mind".

My Defender is my favorite carry, except for the ridiculous hot days.
