THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Picked up a second Gen 1 P99 Today.
First one I bought in 1999 and it was Ser# 16xxx
Second one I bought is NIB Ser# 5xxx for $120 less than the one I got in 1999.
Here they are:

I think I want to suppress one of them. Anyone have suggestions on the best barrel/suppressor combo? And post pics of your combo if you don't mind.

Sorry no image right now but I use a Jarvis barrel and a Gemtech Vortex 9 on my P99C and it works and sounds great.

NIce catch on those two pistols, by the way. I really prefer my full-size P99 over my PPQ.

I had a 1st Gen P99QA .40. It was one of the earlier ones that was all German marked. None of that
Smith and Wesson crap on it. It was a tad big for my hand. The QA doesn't have a double action
trigger set so the distance to the trigger kept me from holding it properly seated in the web of my hand.
I ended up trading it for a mint condition Hungarian SA85 so I won't whine too much I guess....lol

I miss that gun a lot though. I plan on getting a P99AS .40 here soon.

Because every one is test fired to meet minimum accuracy standards and Walther will not accept making ~$5 per gun just to get them in LE's hands.

I have mine because they fit me better than a G-19.

The P-99 is ~3/16" shorter in OAL, 1/4" taller in height and ~1 oz heavier. All in all a wash.

I think the main reason is the complicated trigger. Many cops are not gun people and probably wouldn't do very well with them = accidental discharges.

You are kidding, right?

Gen1 P-99's are the AS model now.

Slide mounted decock button, ~8.0-8.25lb DA trigger pull (after using the decock button), a 4.75-5.25lb SA trigger pull, with a quick reset (for those of your who run off of reset).

If you never used the decock button, you would have a 4.75-5.25lb trigger pull. IOW a better trigger than your run of the mill Glock. I would not do this personally because the AS model does not have a safety lever in the trigger face, I would decock the trigger and have a 8.0-8.25lb DA trigger pull for my first shot.

It comes down to a lack of distribution network, a lack of support network, and cost.

Since 1997 Walther has sold over 400,000 P-99's worldwide. This does not compare to Glocks 2.5 Million + since 1982, but it is nothing to sneeze at.
