My dad called and asked if I could find him any information on this weapon. All I have is this one picture but I can have more taken if needed.

Not an expert on P38's, but that looks like an early post war production gun. They used left over wartime parts, namely the steel frames. Shortly after they changed the designation to P-1 and used an alloy frame. Is it import marked anywhere?
He said "Yes you did" I said "No I didn't" she said "Yes you did" then I said "Nuh uh" they said "Uh huh" then I said, If it is gonna be that kind of party I'm stickin my dick in the mashed potatoes.

Also not an expert, but the slide appears to be a later 1970's or 80's slide, not an early post-war.
The frame is a WWII production steel frame.
As I recall, later in post-war production Walther beefed up the slides on the P-38/P1. These can be identified by the longer grasping groove area on the slide. The longer area put more grooves in front of the safety lever.

I suspect this was a WWII frame someone installed a later production commercial slide on. Possibly the original slide was damaged, or who knows?
