THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Anyhow, I've found a decent deal and was wondering what serial number prefix current production pistols are bearing. This pistol's SN is as follows: AF8XXX. Any ideas or do I email Walther? |

~2011, you can for sure tell by the date code, assuming it's a 'BB' given serial number prefix.

I emailed Walther, they said it was manufactured in 2011.

OK, here is how to decipher the mysterious German proofs and codes on the PPS using my personal PPS as an example...
From left to right on the slide: DE = Country of origin, in this case Duetschland (Germany). Next is the Federal German Proof Mark BB = Date of manufacture, in this case 2011. The antler is the mark of the Ulm Proof House. AF XXXX is the weapon serial number where AF is the month of manufacture, in this case 05, or May. Note that the serial number is repeated on the barrel. |
