It's pretty heavy. Haven't shot 357 out of it yet, just 38. We'll see.

What year? I have a early/mid 80's PT99 that looks very much like that.

1983 I think.  Heel mag release, single side safety exactly like the original Beretta 92

That would make mine a gen 2 then. Ambi safety levers, mag button in the usual place, adjustable sites.

My PT-92 AFS.

Beretta only seems to make frame safety 92s that are very expensive, so I built this.

It has a Beretta barrel with 3rd gen locking block/pin/plunger, Beretta D spring, Beretta slide lock and takedown lever, and Wilson Combat fluted guide rod.

Occasionally, Beretta will have 20% off sales, so I payed less than $100 for the barrel/locking block assembly. I think I have about $550 in the whole thing.

The black PT-92 below has similar mods (Beretta barrel / block / D-spring / fluted guide rod). I like the Beretta Tomcats because they're just like miniature PT-92s.

For any one who's interested, Beretta's bruniton finish and Taurus's black finish appear to be a very close match. Kinda funny considering how Beretta's new M9A3 appears to have 3 different  shades of FDE.

Why NOT rail covers?

Is it not a rail?

I've wanted a Beretta 92 model gun, or equivalent, since seeing Lethal Weapon in 1987.  I've shot a few Berettas over the year and loved the feel of them but it was never enough of a priority for me to purchase one.  A few years ago, my dad picked up a 90's Taurus PT92 and today he gave it to me.  It's definately not a safe queen and appears to have been carried regularly.  I like the look of the well-worn bluing and wood grip panels.  I didn't get the best photo because my camera battery died on the third shot.  There is not a sliver missing on the front of the slide, it's just a near-perfect optical illusion caused by a worn spot on the bluing.

ETA:  I managed to get to the range with my new toy and ran 126 rounds thru four mags, three of which were modified Beretta mags, and it ran flawlessly.  I just wish there were an easy way to get a night sight on the front.

My current collection of Taurii (?)..   Top left is a PT-111 I have had for about 15 years, then a PT-111 G2,  Model 85 Protector Polymer and TCP 738.  The only other I have owned is a Steel Model 85 I gave to my niece.

I got extremely lucky with my first one and loved it so much I bought a second one. Now I was aware there have been some bum barrels out there and well the 2nd one I bought in OD green unfortunately suffered that fate.  Their CS was quick to ship out a new one and I'm happy to report its good to go.  Hardly any chatter marks in the lands/grooves and its concentric at the chamber end.

Dual wielding these are crazy fun.  I need another proper rimfire can so I actually use the sights lol.  Either that or maybe invest in a micro dot up top on the slide.

Haven't shot it yet. Carried an 85 UL back in the days of questionable outcomes. I try to avoid those situations these days.

Picked up this '89-vintage 3" M65 at a local pawn shop yesterday. I'll probably try and find a set of factory Target style grips off an M66 to swap out.
