The rental PT1911 at the range I worked at better than BOTH the Kimbers. It was more accurate for shooters, and the only problem it had was the firing pin would need the base lightly filed about every 3-5000 rounds for awhile, it eventually work hardened and never needed it again.

My safety was so loose that it would slip on with my high hand hold. I've never liked ambidextrious safties so I cut the right side off with a Dremel. It was still to loose and I eventually replaced the safety with one of Wilson's single side "Bullet Proof" units and hand fitted it so it took some effort to engage it. It quickly wore to a very usable firm safety.

Since then I replaced the barrel bushing with a custom honed unit from EGW - .001" cleance. I had the barrel recrowned by ADCO Firearms - Sylvania, OH.

I like the firearm and shoot it more than most because it wasn't expensive. The trigger could use some work. It's mushy, I them to break cleanly.
