I've got a chance to get a new Taurus 24/7 OSS for $300. I'm not a huge Taurus fan but I've had a lot of range time with one of their older .357;s and a PT92 and like these guns. Both have been very reliable. So what's the consensus on the 24/7 OSS (9mm)?
Worth the money or not worth taking the risk?

i have both the py92 and the 24/7oss. i truly trust my life with both. The pt92 ive had for 4 years and shot about 9200 round and never one failure to impress. my 24/7 has just over 1000 rounds and still the same quaility. i think there is no comparison.

the pt92 is a stainless frame, solid metal design, baretta based setup, single stage crisp trigger, with interchangeable grips, This is what i would call a gun enthusiast special. Bery nice looking, super well performing, all the bells and whistles and beautiful overall design.

but the 24/7 is a polymer based frame, plastic/polymer/composite design, longer 2 stage trigger, with fixed grip and fixed lower rail. This is what i consider a shooters gun, tactical based, solid performing, minimal accessories (simple is better from certain tactical standpoints) and simple operation. with minimal operating parts.

Comparing the two is a hard battle. i think the 24/7 is just Taurus' way of putting a glock on the market with a bull still stamped on the side. Glocks are a shooters weapon, and taurus is following suit to stay in the game. And with the 24/7 design they are staying in the game strong. i like this design, and feels comfortable to shoot and handle, unlike the glock. I bought my 24/7 to stay away from the glock brand. i know the glocks0 are super performimg, great guns, (there arent millions and millions in circulation and not be quality), but i hate the thought of a glock for many reasons.

All in all, the 24/7 is a great piece, a shooters weapon and quality fitted.

I recently got a 24/7 OSS 9mm that Ill be using for IDPA/USPSA competitions. The OSS is the best polymer Taurus build due to it was designed for the Military contract competition and from report is was leading when the military ended the program and didnt buy anything. I have close to 500 rounds through mine with absolutely no issues, misfires or jams. The feel and balance of the OSS is second to no other 9mm Ive owned. The only change I made was I got Williams Fire Sights for it which make a big difference in visibility, and target acquisition is MUCH faster. My suggestion is buy it and if you dont like it or if it isnt for you, sell it and youll make you money back + some considering the deal yer getting!

Also keep in mind that Taurus (Miami, Fl) has a no questions asked lifetime warranty and their customer service is awesome!!!

I was a Glock fan...sold both my G21SF and G30, replacing them with a 24/7 OSS 45, and a Gen 3 PT145.
The 12 round mags from the 24/7 fit the PT145 as well.

I had all 4 for a time, but liked the way the Taurus frames felt in my hand, and they both shoot well.
I had 1 small issue with a mag for the OSS, wouldn't properly feed the last round. Sent it back for a FREE replacement. Bad follower design. They have corrected the issue with a subsequent redesign.

I have no regrets about my decision, and do not give a s**t what the haters say.

I do still own, and shoot my Gen 1 G26.

I had two - one 9mm and one 45... I didn't care for them and sold them.

$300 is a pretty good deal. I might buy another for that.

What date was your frame built? Look inside the frame towards the front. Should be a dial looking stamp with a 2 digit number in the middle with an arrow pointing towards a month. My 9mm is 2/08. Got it from Bud's a couple weeks ago.

Hmm, mine stovepiped too, for the first 300 rounds or so. Started out about twice per magazine, then less often until it stopped. Did it no matter how firmly or loosely I gripped the gun. Hasn't had a problem since. Around the 300 round mark I also cleaned it thoroughly, when I bought it I just gave it a quick cleaning before shooting it. Some of the white shipping grease was still in the nooks and crannies. Also sat and racked the slide a few hundred times, can't say what for sure solved the problem since I tried all this at once. Seems it just needed worn in.

I love the gun btw.

My opinion is that it was field tested and the 840 Pro is a refined version.

I know someone who has about 7,000 rounds of Wolf through his and it hasn't missed a beat. I'd buy a Taurus
