THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I found one locally for $400, like new condition, in the box. Would that be a fair price? I currently own a PT 840, PT 945, and PT 140 pro, I have not had an issue with them, but I don't know much about the 1911 platform.. |

Had one that shot great. Very accurate and no issues after 5k rounds. However there is a lot of Taurus hate (some with good reason) on this site. It is actually a pretty good gun. Only reason I sold mine was for a Aimpoint ComM4.

I have one, and two of my brothers have them. All have many trouble-free rounds through them. Good gun at a good price.

Heck yes, that's a good price!
I had one, sold it to buy a 1945 Inglis Hi Power. I regret selling it. The 1911 was a great shooter, I could feed it anything and it'd go bang. I'm looking at getting a Taurus 1911 in 38 Super next. Just because. |

Buddy has one shoots 45 ACP great but he uses an AA conversion kit on his most of the time. His has very good trigger, safety and sights.

There's a good Nutnfancy review of the Taurus 1911 on YouTube. It's a long video but it's pretty good (he doesn't do many short vids) and very detailed. I'd take a chance on it for that price.

I have had mine for a few years, more than 4000 rounds. Here are the issues I have had and currently having. The safety has been replaced, heat treatment was incorrect was the determining cause. I installed a set of Wolff springs for a 1911 and they are either the incorrect weight, or somehow were packaged incorrectly from Brownells. The Firing pin stop spring I ordered separately doesn't fit at all. I'm seeing some wear on the frame but nothing to get too worried about yet. The spring issue will get resolved one way or another, but don't buy into the idea that's a "real' 1911. Sending it back to the factory for repair is not an option as the gun works fine when the original springs are reinstalled. I was just replacing them out of normal maintenance concerns. 400 is a good price, and as for as it being a shooter I'd rate it a strong 7 out of 10. Reliability is as good as my colt, SA's and Star. Accuracy is as good as my Colt Gold Cup and SA NM. Its a lot of gun for the money, but if you buy a ring for ten cents chances are you have a ring not worth a dime. This is one of my USPSA guns and I shoot the piss out of it. It has never let me down. So I say do it!

My stainless PT1911 is a solid, reliable, accurate handgun. At $400 you should jump on it.

I picked up a used one for a super cheap range beater. I've ran a ton of dirty lead rounds through it...and it's been 100% reliable. If you can get a good deal on one, jump on it!

The 1911 AR being my favorite, it's a great pistol! For $400 it's a steal! |

Bought mine new shortly after they came out. Have run several hundred rounds thru it. Reloads, Blazer, WWB, you name it. Works every time. Nice trigger, decent accuracy. I have no complaints at all. Only change I made was some walnut double diamond grips and that was strictly a cosmetic issue.

A guy at one of the gun clubs I shoot at has one and he kicks ass with it in different competitions. He let me try the trigger and he said it was stock from the factory. I've had a match trigger job done on my Springfield 1911 and the trigger on his Taurus was as good if not better than mine. From what I have seen of his Taurus 1911, I wouldn't be afraid of buying one at all.

i have had one since 07 and its been good to me. No complaints. One of my friends just got a 9mm this week and its run flawlessly with 500 rds through it. I would do it for $400 bucks only RIA is in that catagory(not that they are bad either).
Interesting note the finish is different on the new ones. more of a rougher one on my buddies. |

Mine was also a great shooter. I traded it straight up even for a minty Norinco 84s-1, which was worth about twice what I had invested in the Taurus.... which was about five years old at the time, with probably 2K rounds through it.
For Four bills, I would jump all over another one! |

just a follow up. I ended up getting this Taurus, I traded a Rossi .357 magnum and $130 cash difference for it.
I had $225 in the Rossi, so I got it for $355 basically. After looking at it, The sights have been changed on it to HEINIE tritium 1 dot sights, and it has had some trigger work done. It shoots great. ![]() |

Good score!
...speaking of trigger work, that really was the only thing about mine that I wasn't impressed with. Wasn't a bad trigger, just a little gritty. 20 minutes at the shop and it was smooth as butta! Trigger work is a nice bonus. |

Nice score on that Taurus, like some have said, people don't care for them, but mine runs great, accurate with my lead reloads.

I just bought my second Taurus 1911, this one in 38 Super. CDNN has a great deal on the blued model with pimp gold accents. It's a cartel gun for sure. but it was cheap.

I've had one since 08, never an issue. Surprised to see all excellent personal experience here. The Hive assured me they are because they are Taurus.

I own a pt1911 in 38 super, about 300 rounds down range with no issue.....except that after last outing the thumb safety failed to operate, put the safety on, pull the trigger and the hammer drops. as of today it is on its way back to Taurus for repair. I will keep this update as to the outcome.

It is a very fine gun that has never failed me. Performance is better than my Auto Ordinance or Colt and it has a lifetime warranty. What else can I say?
