Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

I have a 740 slim and have had no problems with it. I have a friend who works in a high volume gun store. Before I purchased the gun, I checked with him to see which models of guns were problems or not. He pointed out several Taurus models that were always coming back for repair so I knew which ones to stay away from.

When I bought the slim(about a year or two ago) he hadn't seen any of the slims come back for repair and he said they were selling a boatload of them. He also said the slim had something different in the internals which he thought was a major improvement over some of the other Taurus designs.

I have shot mine a lot and have had a good experience with the slim. With the 40, you really need to hang onto it to keep your second shot in the same spot as the first. It has been a good gun and conceals really well.

I picked up a 6.5" 627 357 magnum about 3 months ago. It's got about 700 rounds of 38 and 357 handloads through it, and no problems whatsoever. Just need to find a decent holster for it.

Got a new Model 94 5" Stainless .22LR revolver last June as a DA practice/plinking gun, and about halfway into the first brick of ammo, the DA quit working. I figured it was dirty, so I took it apart, cleaned out the insides, put it back together, and it still didn't work. The SA worked fine, but the Double would hang up about 1/8 of the way through the trigger pull every time, on every chamber. I then noticed that the cylinder has a burr raised up on the outside of every notch for the cylinder stop, and that when pulling the trigger DA, the slight difference in timing between the stop and the cylinder hand allows the stop to catch on those burrs.

I'm about 90% sure that's what's wrong, and pretty soon I'm gonna take the cylinder off and belt sand it with a high grit belt to take those burrs out.

I own several Taurus pistols and have great results with all of them. I own a PT1911 AR, TCP, Ultralite .38 snub, and a Rossi(Taurus manufactored) 851 .38 Special.

PT1911 AR- 1200rds through it without a hiccup, accurate, smooth trigger, durable finish(I beat it like it owes me $$), and great pistol for the price.

TCP- FTF issues initially, 750-1000rds through it now with very little malfunctions, DAO trigger great, finish is intact, and again a great value weapon.

Ultralite- zero malfuntions(naturally, wheel gun), accurate, durable finish, smooth DA trigger(hamerless), great value weapon.

851- zero malfunctions(naturally, wheel gun), accurate, durable finish, smooth DA/SA trigger, outstanding pistol for the price I paid.

I know there are always lemons out there, you're bound to get one eventually. Don't write off an entire line of weapons for one or two bad products, however... when it comes to your carry piece, get the absolute best you can get I suppose.

I'd bet my life on my 24/7 Pro in .40. I've put thousands of rounds through it and it runs like a champ. It's not picky about what ammo you put in it, and it runs great.

I have 2 PT1911's. One is a standard model that I installed a Marvel 22 conversion on for practice. The other is a ss/rail that I shoot single stack uspsa, and regularly outshoot most of the guys with the expensive 1911's. No problems with either one after a short break-in period. They both have triggers that are just as good as my Kimber. Although I would like to swap out the mim trigger group for better grade parts on the comp gun. If given another chance, I would buy them again.

I bought a barely used pt111 last fall at a gun show. I love it. I bought it so I would have something smaller and lighter to pack when I wear shorts. I bought my wife a Springfield xd subcomp for the same reason. She wanted the xd because the controls are the same as her full size xdm. When we got them home and tried them out, she realized how much lighter my pt111 is and recoil is the same as her xd. She also like the taurus trigger better than her xd and is still asking me to trade, I still keep saying no.

I know they have prolems with qc, but I am happy with all three of mine. I did call with a couple questions and was treated rather rudely, I felt like I was interrupting their day. So I hope I will never haver to call them to return one for repairs.

I have three Taurus firearms; a PT92 (my very first pistol and a great choice), a PT709 and my latest, a PT1911 SS AR. No problems, love them all. I highly recommend the Crimson Trace Laser Grip for the 709.

I've had a Judge 3" Mag for years, love it, never had a problem with it. My cousin has a 24/7 OSS in 9mm, no problems also, it'll eat any brand of ammo you feed it,great gun. I'll probably be picking up one of their PT-100 Beretta 96 clones in the future.

I took a piece of hard Arkansas to my sear on a PT1911. I can't believe they sell that shit! Once it started to polish a bit, a chunk fell out. I thought it was odd. I continued a little and the edge sort of fell apart and looked like Swiss cheese. Taurus MIM parts are absolute crap, they give MIM a bad name! I stuffed it with MIM Wilson Combat value line components. They almost looked like machined steel and they clean up beautifully with a fine stone. I sold that gun and bought a Rock Island 2011. The difference again was night and day. The RIA was assembled from vastly superior compartments, which was very surprising for a gun that was even cheaper than the Taurus.

And the finish fell off at the speed of light in a soft leather holster, but I had heard the Taurus finish did that before I bought it.

That was my first and probably my last Taurus!

If you want a cheap 1911, look at Springfield, Ruger, Remington, Rock Island Armory, and hell I've seen some used Sigs and S&Ws for the price of a new Taurus.
