Back in the day I had an 80 lumen streamlight that worked great. I see the 150 and 300 lumen models still for sale. The battery life for both is 2.5 hours. Ive also had a streamlight tlr hl 630 lumen light but its run time was 1.5 hours. Looking to pick up another streamlight and Im thinking about down grading to the 300 lumen from the 630 lumen hl to get that extra hour of run time. I would think 300 is more than enough. Your thoughts?

It depends how you use it. LE covering large unpopulated rural areas? Max lumens in a focused beam. Kicking doors? Around 200 or 300 lumen with a decent flood. Apartment dweller living in 800 sq ft? Less than 120 lumens. Anything over that tends to splash back and effect me, especially with white/light colored walls.

I don't think I even change batteries once a month.  In reality 1.5 or 2.5 hours of run time is a ton of constant run time.

ETA: I use a X300Ultra and a Fury.  Both 500 lumen.

I just did my first timed, no light USPSA type shoot with an older TLR-1, I think it's the 160 lumen version and it was plenty. I changed out the batteries the day before. There were varying differences from basically point blank to 25 yards out. I had no problem seeing any targets and no problem distinguishing the no shoot targets, which were marked with an x of masking tape. I'll see if I can get the video up.

For home defense 300 lumens is more than sufficient.

Its for work. I hate having to pit new battieries in becaise its going dim. So that extra hour means alot. I would of went dont to the 150 lumen model but there was no increase in run time

I've used both, but after going to the 630 lumen TLR-1HL, and after actually using it in matches, hunting, and around the house drills, I will NOT go back to using the standard 150 lumen TLR-1.
