I would like to have a flap holster that would disguise the fact that it's a holster. Mounted either below the steering column or on the side of the console.

Something along the lines of a Wilderness Safepacker.

I've tried to see things from the liberal point of view ... but I'm just not flexible enough to get my head up my ass.

Another option might be the Safariland Quick Attach System (QAS).

you won't have to unholster your weapon to transition it from vehicle to hip to wherever else you keep it.

I use a Blackhawk CQC Serpa holster with thier removable mounting plate that attaches to the back of the hoster in replacement of the paddle/belt slide. I mounted the attachment back to the under panel below my steering wheel. I pop the holster in when I get in the truck and pop it off and on to the paddle on my waist when I get out of the truck. It works perfectly and with the Serpa lock, the gun remains holstered even over rough terrain, but draws as smooth as you please.

My system is similar to the Safariland set up in the previous post, but cheaper and works with the 8 or so Serpa holsters I have for set up this way for various handguns in my collection. I also use this QD set up to mount my holsters on a Blackhawk thigh rig and belt paddles.

I use this system too. I mounted mine to the center console out of direct view. It is set up really nice and if you have a pistol with a serpa and the QD mounts it works like a charm.
