Switching back and forth between the paddle and the belt attachment would get old really quick. I also have a dedicated Comp-tac Paddle holster (FBI cant). I thought the settable cant holster was poorly designed in comparison to every single other Comp-tac product I've ever owned. I'm a big CT guy, but I did not like the settable cant holster. With the paddle or belt attachment, the holster is held way too far away from the body. I don't mean this as a problem just for concealment reasons, but it was held out so far that there was a bit of flopping to it when walking––and that was with a Wilderness Instructor's belt and a Comp-tac kydex reinforced belt. Also, the belt attachment and paddle attachment are held on with two screws, which seemed like a weak point in the design. The female sides of the screws were not set securely in the holster so it was a little tricky getting them tight, and I'd be afraid of them loosening up over time. You could combat this with loc-tite, but then why bother with the ability to switch back and forth between paddle and belt. There really weren't many cant choices to choose from. Basically FBI cant, straight drop, or cross draw. I'm an FBI cant sort of guy, so changing wasn't necessary for me anyway. In the end, if I need a paddle holster, I prefer the standard CT paddle holster in FBI cant. If I need a belt holster, I prefer a Raven over the standard belt holster from CT since you can't get the standard belt holster in FBI cant, only straight drop. I sold my settable cant holster. |

It would be nice to have something that was easily changed from one cant to the other and still be secure/stable once set. IMO, the CT settable cant holster was not easy enough to change for that purpose––it just gives the end user the ability to set up the holster the way they want and probably leave it that way. And, the holster was not stable enough once set. Good idea, but the execution left a lot to be desired. |
