Anybody run this ammo in their self defense gun?

It seems to be harder to get nowadays.

If you do the math, it, in theory anyway, it pretty close to a 125 grain .357 magnum.

Looks good   CorBon Muzzle velocity: 1325 fps   Muzzle energy: 526 ft/lbs

I use Winchester Silvertip 155 gr.  The 180 gr Winchester Ranger 180 gr duty ammo SUCKS in actual use the 155gr or lighter with higher velocity actually expands better.

155 Silvertip Muzzle Velocity: 1205 FPS    Muzzle Energy: 500 ft/lbs

Cool, thanks for the info!

Curious as to how you tested the 180 grain Ranger?

I carried that CorBon 135gr load for years. The one with the Sierra bullet, which hasn't been used in a while I think.

It is a very accurate load. You definitely know you are shooting something hot but recoil is not bad. Similar to a stout 357 SIG load I think. I shot a bunch of it into water jugs and wet pack. Even through a windshield into wet back. It opens up fast and breaks up like you would imagine. Maybe 10" of pen. but I never shot any into actual jell.

I still have about 75 rounds that I keep as my 3rd tier ammo. If I was very concerned about over penetration, I would consider it.

And to the poster that said the Win Ranger 180 duty load sucks...my agency has used it for over 20 years. It's an excellent load in 40SW. Maybe Fed HST or Gold Dot 180 are better (I don't know) but the Ranger is a good load. We get about 15 OIS per year and no one has run off after a solid hit, unlike back in the early 90's with the 9mm loads (which were far inferior to current top of the line 9mm duty loads).

No but I use the 140gr Barnes Tac-XP all copper HP.

In a full size M&P40 with TLR1. My staged HD gun.

In Evan Marshalls book STOPPING POWER the Corbon 135was the best .40 for one shot stops. I carry it in the warmer months.  I has a large Hollow point cavity. It can fill up with Material from coats etc. When its coat season I use Federal 165 Hydrashoks.  Just my opinions.

I don't carry the Corbon load, but I load the 135 grain Nosler hollow points for my .40 S&W pistol carry ammo.  Accurate.  Reliable.

Don't know the muzzle velocity but the muzzle flash and recoil is impressive, as is the distance the empties fly.

From the P07 the feel/sound is very much like a .357 magnum 125 grain hollow point from my Ruger Speed Six.

It was my go to round for my .40 high power in the mid 90's
Stuff was hot!
I traded the hi power for another pistol and got out of .40 after Y2K
