Anyone know the current best price for Federal HST 150gr 9mm??  Seems to be hard to find -- at a reasonable price -- also did this ammo start out being 147grains?
Update:  Thanks to all who answered my question.  147 grains it is, still looking for a sale!

There is no such thing (from what I've seen) as a "good" price:  it's very expensive relative to the other HST offerings.

Just get 147s and call it good...that or the best defensive 9mm round currently available.

I'm still confused why anybody would want the 150gr..

147 has several things going for it namely price and LE packaging. Does great in all barrel lengths.

The 150's were a marketing attempt at shorter barrels. It is not needed at all  147 gr HST are perfect the way they are

HST SB  is a marketing ploy. It is not needed. It doesn't do anything that regular HST does except cost more. It was introduced with a high price tag to take advantage of a section of market that thinks a label makes things better.
Save your money and use 124 or even 147 grain HST. Both are very adequate and have the same or better performance.

A quick Google, Bing, Ask, duckduck, or what ever search engine you like will answer a lot of questions.

I normally buy HST from SGAmmo, 147gr, 147gr +P and 230gr .45ACP in 50rd boxes.

The only time I've seen HST on the shelf in places like Academy and Walmart has been at over double the price per round in 20rd plastic boxes.  Walmart had some of the new 150gr the other day and I didn't even bother trying it at the price they were asking for it when I've got several boxes of 147gr at home.

No one is making you all buy it. The benefits are lower recoil and a much faster follow up, plus a reduced flash. If that is not enough to convince you all to buy a box, oh well. Life goes on, doesn't matter to me anyways and I couldn't care less. I am not losing anything by using it in one of my EDC's and gaining faster shots and less flash at night.

I have them in my Shield right now that is at my 4' IWB.

I am not taking a Shield to war. That job is for the VP9. My stash is all 147 standard pressure HST. I have enough for the task at hand, which is to get me home safe and sound.

Reduced flash and recoil...and faster follow up...the undying mantra...with respect to 9mm no less.

Yea, the 150s might be a great round, but at nearly twice the price (last time I looked), is it "twice" as good?

As stated, no one's making us buy it...and we'll stick with "standard" HSTs.

The bad guy you have a 1:gazillion chance of shooting in your lifetime will not be saying "damn, he had those 150 SBs...if only he'd have gone with 147s."

It does seem a little gimmicky. An extra 3 grains!?

Now if it was something like 160 and going 850-900fps...lets not forget that 40SW loads in 155 are doing 1150-1200fps

If it was the same price as the 147, in 50 round boxes, I would certainly try some. Maybe great for my Glock 43.

AND, if standard pressure 147 ammo, going 900fps is still too harsh for the recoil sensitive, then a 380 or 22 is a better option anyway.

You seem to be rather sensitive to a presentation from one's POV of facts.

No one is making you buy it. Period. It isn't gimmicky when you're doing substance over form and highly biased because of it.

This is part of their marketing for their Micro line of HST's. HST's sell in any caliber and sells really well. They're trying to bring a product that some people obviously want otherwise it wouldn't have been done. If it fails as their Guard Dog line has failed, live and learn and Federal will move on.

God forbid Federal is catering to everybody and getting people out there to shoot. God forbid Federal get's a lower recoiling 9x19 out there for those who want 9x19 and have aversions to anything less than that for a loved one that may indeed be recoil sensitive.

However, I am not recoil sensitive. I've fired .500 S&W full power rounds and asked to shoot some more while .50 AE is a kitten. I shoot a lot of octane from as little as a .357 to 10mm and .45 Super hitting almost 1,200 FPS too easily.

Can someone share how much faster follow up shots are?

It's pretty smart marketing really. Everybody knows about and buys 50 round boxes of HST. So, how do they get you to pay the same amount of money for half the ammo?

I'm sure Walmart has no problems selling the small boxes of 124/147gr HST that they've stocked for years.  Federal and Winchester try really hard to keep those reasonably priced 50 round boxes out of non-LEO hands

Winchester certainly does, but Federal and Speer not so much. Demand is what makes them hard to find sometimes. The 150 micro isn't worth the price of admission.

If your gunshop is jacking up the price of the 150Gr hst, thats on them. The 150 gr is only $1.94 more expensive wholesale.

Dude...You overpaid for both the ammo and the shipping.

Today I ordered 250 standard pressure 147 HST's from SGAmmo for $21.00 each and $14 in shipping because I ordered way more than just that.

They're under $20/50 (147 std) at a few sites I shop at.

Pretty incredible, really.

For self defense ammo, SGA is No Doubt the way to go. And also most of the time for ball ammo too...
