I'm trying to compile a list of manufacturers that still load the .357Sig (at least close) to its original power.  The standard being 1450fps and 584 ft pounds of energy at the muzzle using a 4" barrel.

Here are the ones I have so far- please add any I might have missed.  This is for the 125gr HP bullet.  Of course these are all advertised figures and few list what barrel length on which they're basing those figures; so grain-of-salt I guess....

Sig Sauer's branded ammo is a disappointing 1356fps for 511 ft pounds at the muzzle. (They INVENTED the stuff!)

Georgia Arms 1400fps with no energy listed.  (520s maybe?)

Corbon is 1425fps for 564 ft pounds at the muzzle.

BuffaloBore says 1425fps for 564 ft pounds at the muzzle.  (Sadly it's overpriced and the box is ridiculously large for 20 rounds)

Underwood is rocking the caliber with 1475fps and 604 ft pounds at the muzzle.

DoubleTap is claiming 1525fps out of a 4.5" barrel, and 1415 out of a 3.5" barrel.  (expensive)

Those are all the serious players that I could find.

Winchester's 'police only' Ranger is only making 1350fps, the RangerT at 1350fps while their white box JHPs also does 1350fps.
Speer's Gold Dot 1350fps and their Lawman (TMJ) also at 1350.
Federal's HSTs at 1360fps.

Remember faster ammo does not always equal better bullet performance.

Some bullets work better at the factory loaded velocities... so it is a balance between penetration and expansion.

The original Federal P357S1 was rated at 1350 fps 510 fpe.

Here's a scan from my 1994 Sigarms Quarterly.

I would go with what Federal, Speer, and Winchester are doing.

Wow, awesome charts!  There’s a lot of interesting information there too; like how the 9mm +P+ line meets the .40 for energy at ~20 yards.  The .357Sig round was originally developed, as I understand it, to mimic the 125gr .357 Magnum round from a 4" barrel.

It definitely makes me feel better about the 1350fps rounds, and I have a couple magazines stuffed with Sig’s V-crown rounds at that fps.  I’m currently carrying Georgia Arms Speer bonded unicore rounds at 1400fps.

Anyway, if I set the standard at 1350fps for a 125gr HP, are there any other major players other than the ones I listed in the OP?

The Federal HST bullet almost sheds it's jacket completely at 1350 fps.  It is probably a bullet limitation that they can't give it the 100 fps it needs to catch up.

Underwood has their 125gr Bonded HP (Gold Dots) back in stock.  TNOutdoors9 was getting 1500+ fps from a 4" Glock 32

I've been waiting for that to come back.  I ordered a few boxes as well as a couple boxes of the solid copper penetrators, just in case things ever get that bad.  Since there was room in the cart I picked up a couple boxes of hot .380 for the wife's P238 as well.

I would avoid such hot-rodded rounds.

They will likely have worse terminal performance due to fragmentation or core/jacket separation. I would also bet that they will flashbulb you in low light. Remember that most self-defense situations happen in low light.

Unless you seek flat-shooting rounds for pistol hunting or something. In that case, carry on.

This chart is absolute BS. They did not compare apples to apples. They compaired what they wanted to compare to fit the narrative that it is somehow superior. It is only marginally better. Maybe ? You can get 500 ft/lbs of energy from 9,40 & 45 from factory loads. If I remember correctly you can get almost 600ish loads in 40 & 45. At the end of the day it makes little to zero difference in exterior ballistics. And...the increased recoil is most likely a detriment for most people. You can still be a fan..but don't get it in your head it is magic. It is not !
IMO..pick one you shoot well on a consistent basis and carry on.
