Looking at this TNQ 9mm Frangible 100gr  hp ($10./20 @ cabelas SC) and wondering what the story is on Frangible, let alone this brand, for home defense ?

Managing expectations, trying to ... buying some to try out.

Wondered what the experiences were with this brand in Frang., but have doubts on Frangible for SD period.

Interesting. Post up a review after you've gotten a chance to shoot some.

My primary concern is penetration. If frangible rounds were consistently penetrating the FBI 12-18" standard while also expanding/breaking-up reliably, I think we'd see people singing praises for it already...

If it's like the speer 9mm frang stuff I have, that is NOT for home defense.  We use it to bang on steel at close range.  And that price is BS, unless it really is some whiz bang defensive round.

I've never even heard of it but I can pretty much guarantee it's garbage.

TNQ is a new company and their frangible HP ammo is no different than any other company like Fiocchi and SBR that offers ammo using Sinterfire brand frangible bullets. Moulding a hole in the center of a frangible training bullet doesn't make it a good SD load. Only advantage is if the bullet strikes a hard object it'll break up quickly thus reducing it's down range hazard.

Only advantage I can see to a frangible bullet is if you don't want CSI to have a bullet to trace.

Terminal performance sucks.
