Defend has done really well in ballistics gel, especially the 147 grain. It is designed for shorter barrels. Water jugs will tell you zero. |

(HST has always shown very close expansion in water compared to gel and even pork tissue) If these are designed for the short barrels, then the extra 100+ fps I got from a 5" barrel caused jacket separation (which was evident in STB's results) and it seems that prevented further expansion. |

It would seem to be marketed to the guys who rarely shoot their guns and shop the "Big Box" stores.
"Hey, I just bought this new gun from "Big Box". I'll run fifty practice rounds thru it, and then carry this SD ammo". And then never practice again.

Keep in mind I have never shot anyone with the Defend(essentially the replacement for PDX1) ammo but I do carry it and it does good is ballistic gel tests. I would have no worries carrying the Win Defend, Fed HST, or Hornady XTP those are the loads I stick with.
