The base is the penetrator on these, and leaves FMJ like wound cavities after it's petals fragment off. Good size wound cavity, but only in the first 4-5" of penetration:

No thanks. I'll stick to proven bonded JHP's.










ETA: I tried these in 40 when they were called "HALO". I had one fly apart on the way to the target. Been stung by one too many gimmick rounds.
