I'm thinking about getting one of those jobsite boxes to put my ammo cans in. I am up to a paltry 17 cans and only 12 will fit in the cardboard box that's hiding them.

my state only allows us to have
10,000 centerfire
10,000 rimfire
5,000 shotgun
Unless I pay the fire dept. $50/year for a permit, then I can lagally go to 50,000 rounds. Now I have a new goal!

Right now im at.........

.17HMR 75
.22 700
.223/5.56 1,270
9MM 1,545 + 20 gold dots = 1,565
40 S&W 896 + 600 + 20 gold dots = 1,516
45 AUTO 370
7.62x39 830
7.62x54R 450
.50 (muzzleloader) 25
12 GUAGE 361
30-30 40

TOTALS: centerfire 5,401
rimfire 775
shotgun 361
末末末末末末末末末末末
6,537 I still need/want alot more
I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6!

Same way they keep track of people who carry a canceled weapon illegally. It's all good until they interact w/ you for another reason.

I just count full cans anymore, anything less is just plain uncivilized.
I do not have a license to kill, but I do have a learner's permit.

I feel like I'm living the movie "Idiocracy" with this administration.

Of late, I have found myself hoarding 5.56 tracer rounds. Too easy at $7.99 per 20. Literally find it impossible to not stop in the local fun store and pickup a pack every time I pass the store....both ways!

Last election all I was shooting was .22lr since it was all that I could get for MONTHS. I started setting some aside for this year's election so I can continue to visit the shooting range.

Thats whats funny about it. They can't! Unless something happens and you give them a reason.
I just went out to wally world and picked up 600 rounds of 40. And 2 boxes of Speer gold dots in 9 and 40.

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6!

I am on vacation in Florida and happened to be in a Walmart yesterday..we were in sporting goods picking up a few things so I decided to check out the ammo cabinet just to see if it compared to my local WM..and it pretty much did, no 9MM to be had, and I witnessed a guy come up and buy all the Federal 223 and all the Winchester 22LR.

I stop by WM a couple times a week to see if any 9mm is in. It's either 1 or 2 boxes if you lucky. 9, .40 and .45acp are never there. Only maybe a box of .357 Sig or some less common calibers.

Quadrupal that and it'll equal close to 2/3rds of just .22 LR that I have stored. 525 Blazer bulk packs are your friend, by the case. 5250 rounds at $170 shipped to my front door, you cant beat that. Why do you think PSA is out of stock. ;)

And my stash doesnt even hold a candle to some of the others around here I'm sure. What I learned from horders on here is, when you think you have to much ammo, double that amount and then reengage. ;)

Wow, re-reading over this thread......folks are limited in the number of rounds they can possess? I do not think Alabama has a limit. If it does, i do not really want to know.....I think.....

The jobsite box is a great ammo storage container. I picked up one at Home Depot for $259 a couple years ago.

Unfortunately, it is already full, and I don't really have the floor space in the garage for another one. I have since moved toward storage options that are more vertically stackable to make better use of my floor space.

sometimes before a gunshow all the popular pistol calibers seem to be missing from the few stores near me. any other time i go they have a stock of 9mm, .40, .223, even 7.62x39 . and 45 which for a long time they never had any. .357 and .44magnums are usually only 1 or 2 boxes though. some of the walmarts have a sign limiting 8 boxes per purchase. not sure if they enforce this

You can never have enough ammo,
28k 22 LR
7k 223
5k 308
3k misc. rifle
6k 9mm
1k 45acp
1k misc pistol
1k 50
5k 12ga

I figure I'm just getting started and consider myself very low. Goal is 50k 22, 30k 223, 20k 308, 1.5k 50, 20k 9mm, 3k 45, 10k 12ga. Maybe I'll get there some day, but when I do I'll still want more.

Nice start

Alot better than the guys who go buy a 100-bulk pack when they want to shoot

That said.....I'm light on what I'd like to have and I've got enough to make Eric Holder crap his pants

Whenever I go to town (twice-three times a month?) I get 300-500 rounds of handgun ammunition, and average a 2 case order of rifle ammunition per month.

Since January I'm up about 17,000 rounds of ammunition

Since the OP on 3/3/2012 ammunition in my area continues to be widely available at reasonable prices both locally and online.

Virtually limitless availability in all calibers; both self defense ammo and range crap and prices have remained stable.

I just keep loading more and more ammo. I still have 1500 223 rds and 1300 308's to load. When that is done I will buy more brass and continue on. I'm sure when I reach my goal I will have a excuse as to why I need more. I wanted to set back a couple of cases of primers and enough powder and bullets to load it up but the more I run this plan through my head I think might as well load it now then it's done. I have talked to some guys and they far exceed what my goals were so unless you have 1 million plus rounds I don't think you can be classed as a hoarder. Just a opinion.

I have more ammo than the OP rolling around my trunk, other than.223 that is a good range trip. I am working on ammo slut status. So it requires a level of dedication. It slowed since I lost my job. I am good for a while. now to get hard on reloading

My friend came over to do laundry and cook lunch when the power was knocked out a few weeks ago. I came home and she says, "What the hell, every cabinet in the kitchen has ammo in it, I couldn't find the pots and pans!"

I have 650 rounds of LOADED .41 mag, and enough components for 600 more... I think that's good for .41 mag. being an odd caliber, and I only have two revolvers chambered for it.

Looking at 7mm/TCU. I have 380 loaded, and components for 400 more! not bad for a single shot handgun...

What do you guys have for odd ass rounds??
