My grandfather owns a .22 Rossi Princess which Is a family heirloom. Well anyways, he claims that when fired, it sparks from the hammer, or rear cylinder. I'm personally going to test it this weekend, or am hoping to, but before I do, I must ask. Does anyone have a clue what might be going on? I know if it was sparking out the front of the cylinder it would be spitting lead, but I don't feel like that's the case. Much appreciated for anyone who may have had similar issues or knows exactly what's going on.

Gotta say we had a rossi 22 pistol, IDK which model, that was so badly out of time we trashed it.   I don't know how you could be getting a discharge thru the hammer, unless the firing pin is piercing the rim.   Wear your best safety glasses, the quality on a rossi can be iffy.

I don't think its piercing it, because I have of the spent cases he used awhile ago. Hopefully my local rangemasters will know.
