They make oversized grip screw bushings for just such a problem

If the bushing is cross threaded then all you need to do is replace it with a new one. If you cross threaded the frame with a bushing then you'll need to retap the hole and install the over size bushing.

There cheep to replace but if you have a tap then tap it out from the inside edge and it should fix the problem,.....

You can also try threading the bushing in from the back to straighten the threads back out, then Loctite the bushing in when you're ready to install it.
I don't like drilling for oversized bushings unless there is no other option (i.e., missing threads). |
