THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I bought a Kimber 10 days ago and wanted to remove the sights to get the series II safety out and found that beating on them was of no use. They are apparently press fit into the pistol. So I had to try to find a cheap sight pusher and came across this tool. If you have a similar problem follow the link to a video review. |

The Sight tool works absolutely awesome IMO. If I want to make a minor adjustment I snug the nut by hand and then make a 1/8 turn of the wrench or so and it seems to work very well. The major benefit here is that this isn't model specific so you don't need one specific to Glock or 1911's. That means spending less money. |

Tag for interest and future purchase.
I've read somewhere before to use model specific sight pushers to avoid cracking the slide. What's the scoop on this, before I spend any money (on tools or repairs)? |

Scratching the slide finish is a greater concern. Masking tape or strips of cardboard from an ammunition box/business cards etc will help there.
If you have a delicate front sight to push that requires you push the sight blade, I found a feeler guage inserted between the square tube frame and pusher component limited the slight cant of the pusher for those tasks. I really doubt you could crack a slide with this tool. I think scratching is the major concern. |

Hello, I am not sure if anyone did any kind of review on the sight pusher tool or now, I purchased it and used it to change out my sights a few weeks ago. The guy was nice enough as he offered me a .mil discount.
This will be just a mini review as I have never really done a review on a forum for anyone. Dislikes There are a few things I liked and disliked about the set up. For dislike was that he sent me the extra XD blocks so I could change the sight on my m&p, but one block was scored but uncut so I would not have enough room to put my slide into the device. I sent him an email (which he responded fast) and he sent me a new set of blocks. Only prob is even with the new blocks my slide still could not fit into the device (front part of the slide, the aft sights fit and came out easy.) so I ended up cutting the block down and then I could fit the slide. HOWEVER I might have been able to fit my slide in all the way but I had some tape and really thin rubber to keep my slide from marring. Another issue I had was more of a personal issue, if you have a vice to clamp this thing into it works much better, if you do not well you need three hands to juggle with because you have to hold the slide, hold the clamp block to keep it from spinning and then ratchet the sight pusher part as well. Again more of a personal prob, I had a friend hold the sightpusher tool for me, next time I will be using a vice. Likes Well the price is right, it is very easy to ratchet the sights off the slide, once you have everything prepped (taping up stuff you dont want scratched) then its just a matter of setting the base of your sight up to the blade, tightening your block clamps and pushing them off. The front sights are suppose to be very hard to remove on a m&p, but with this tool I didnt really notice an issue at all. just make sure that the slide doesnt move on you and your good to go, installing a sight is even easier. Would I recommend this or use it again, Id say yes, beats the hell out of using a punch and hammer, I had no issue with marring and the first shot I took from the pistol was dead bulls. This is the first time I have ever changed sights on a pistol, and it was fairly easy, If you have some mechanical sense that you will be alright. |
