+1.  I've tried so many small pistols but still end up going back to the 3913 I picked up brand new 21 years ago.

SD9VE painted/baked slide with Rustoleum Appliance Epoxy.  Waiting on my rear sight to get here (M&P steel).  Apex trigger pull reduction kit installed and all trigger parts/striker block polished.  Trigger is a hair lighter than my G17 with V4 connector and NY1 spring.  My new truck gun.

The 3913 is in my opinion one of the best CCW guns out there. The G43 just beats it but that is because it is the true plastic fantastic. But the 3913 is the classy CCW piece.

Is the 52 a .45?  It's real purdy.  Seems like you get all the cool stuff.

Holy crapskies.  Wow.  Was it converted or is that the way all 52's are?  I know they did this with 1911's but I didn't know this about Smith's......

Gosh that would be a fun gun to shoot.

All 52s are like that, it's really stupid in an alluring way. The effort they put into each of these really shows, and it has the best trigger of any auto I've used so far

My new .40 S&W Shield with my beloved 3913.

It isn't as good as a 3rd Gen but it is a decent substitute for a 4040PD.

Edit to add.

Better photo of my .40 S&W Shield.

This one is special to me. It is a run of the mill 1975 production Model 64. But what makes it special?

In 1975, my father graduated the police academy in Miami and went to work as a Patrol Officer. Well, he needed an off duty gun. So he bought three of these. One for him, one for my Padrino, and one for my Abuelo. Miami was starting to get bad. The cocaine wars were right around the corner as was Merial. So Dad figured his brother and dad needed a gun to carry too since they both ran their own businesses. Back then, getting a permit to carry was very hard and guns had to be registered with the county. But since Dad was LE.... problem solved.

Dad and Padrino later sold their but not Abuelo. He kept right on carrying it until he couldn't no more and that was around 2005. Sadly, when the cancer advanced to the point that it affected his mental health. We had to take it away from him. It was hard. He later passed away from cancer that year.

This year Dad is battling cancer and I've spent the last week next to him in the hospital. It is a tough fight but he is winning. So Dad figured it was time for me to have Abuelo's gun.

This one is never being sold. I remember as a kid when Abuelo would come home and put a stack of cash and this revolver in his safe. Everyday, seven days a week he did that.

Awesome, great story and great gun.

There is a soft spot in my heart for short barrelled K frames.
