Do I have any options for aftermarket mags? I saw that mec-gar makes mags for the 5900 series, but wasn't sure if they were compatible.

The only difference between mags for the 59 (1st generation) 459 (2nd Generation) and 5904/5906 (3rd Generation ) is the 3rd Generation has a plastic floor plate and were later changed to orange followers which allowed 15 rounds instead of the 14 rounds in the 59 and 459. The S&W 59 series magazines are basically interchangable. The body of the MegCar mag is a few thousandths thicker and have always worked in my experience with S&W 59 series pistols but would not fit in Keltec P-11's. Nice looking 59, those are getting a little more scarce these days.

Been running Mecgars in a variety of platforms for years. Great mags. OEM for a lot of companies.

Kel-Tec's P11, SUB-9, & SUB-2000 Gen1 use the same mags, as does the Marlin Camp 9 carbine.

I still have an arched mainspring housing for one Smith sold for a short time along with factory 20 rounders.
Nice classic you have there.
