Looking to get a M&P 5" 9mm.  I have shot a Pro Shop gun non ported and liked the way it felt.

But Bass Pro has a std gun for $499 and I have about $200 in rewards points.

I want a good trigger and an RMR eventually

I just went through this.

If you have a remote chance of mounting an RDS, go with the CORE.

$700 to spend will put you there.

Any M&P will need the Apex trigger

Sights....but if you want to add an RDS, factor in milling and the mounting plate.

ETA: $499 is a bit high.

I just picked up a STD for $415

I have an Performance Center 40l and the trigger is still OEM.  Triggers are personal and I won't buy an apex trigger until you tried the OEM first  I have an Apex trigger on my shield and it has its own set of issues outside the hinged trigger of the pro series that you shot.  The trigger on mine did drop in weight after a few thousand rounds.  The performance center comes with suppressor high sights and a RMR with the supplied plates will allow you to use them if your RMR fails. I bought my PC for $599 on clearance and converted it to a 9mm using a KKm barrel

The CORE is also significantly easier to upgrade the trigger on.

You don't have to screw around with removing the rear sight, just pop the top plate off and you have access to replace the sear striker block and spring.

Turns that part into a 2-3 minute job rather than having to use a sight pusher to remove and replace the sight, then make sure you're sighted in again.

Boom, done.

Then you just have to replace the trigger and assocciated guts.  That takes about 20 minutes with the armorers block and a YouTube video.

I agree, I thought $415 was cheap

ETA: OH, go ahead and order the Apex kit of your choice.
I got the curved thin blue line series, 25% goes to help the families of fallen officers.

Now I need a set of Americlo iDots and a TLR light

$415 OTD is still damn cheap.  They are all $490-$500 right now locally.  And that's before sales tax.

I've found them on sale for $420 online.  With FFL fee and tax, it'll be just about $500 OTD still.

well, I got my Apex trigger installed....
Dont have a pull meter, but I bet it is close to 4lbs. Jeebus what a difference!

I also picked up some Ameriglo idots, rear is just sorta 25% on. , I need a pusher....Ima have to run up to the club tomorrow and use theirs. Didn't even attempt the front one.

I put this stuff on the EDC 4.25 STD. Now I gotta order an Apex flat trigger in American flag for the 5" Core. I dont even wanna look at suppressor height sights for that sumbitch, $$$$$

Overall, I am really liking these tupperware fookers! I dont even miss my 1911 at this point.

I was correct. Trigger came in at 4lbs 1 oz.

The CORE, which still has the OEM trigger, is right at 7lbs ...and it is lighter than it was 400 rounds ago.

Guess what we are ordering tomorrow.

I went from a 3-4" MOA @ 7 -10 yards to 1" MOA .

I am super happy with this pistol.

The Ameriglos are fanfuckingtastic.....when I figure out a second carry sidearm (translation: what other M&P) it will get the same $265 treatment.

$165 for trigger kit and $100 for the Ameriglo.

$365 + $500 ( 9c in FDE) $865 about the same for the non FDE.

Shit....the CORE is not a cheap pistola.....

$705 OTD
$165 trigger kit....maybe $20 more for a US Flag tigger.
$280 for the Vortex
$1150 fucking plastic gun
