Just picked This up at the Cabela's Memorial Day Sale.

Last one, so I had them hold it with my card over the phone.

Am I going to like this lil' guy, and what holster are you guys using for IWB?

I use an Alien Gear 3.0 for IWB.

I have the 3.0 for my Glock 42 that I sold.

I may just reheat the plastic and reform it to the shield.

If you send your shell back to them, they will replace it with a new one for your current pistol. For free

In the words of Joe Dirt......"Oh Dang."

Thanks for the heads up.

Damn, $499! That's high as crap

Not sure porting on such a short barrel would be a plus for me...  You're already sacrificing velocity for concealability, why handicap the round even more?

Maybe if I regularly shot BUG matches...

I would avoid the PC Shield.

The porting is horrible for a carry gun, especially when Smith has in the manual to "not fire from hip". I'd take the extra money and buy an Apex kit and/or night sights for a standard Shield.

I didn't pay that price.
It was on sale for $430, and I had $50 in Cabela's points. So, $380 + tax.

As for the fire ball, yes, it's significant. This photo captured it, but I didn't even notice it.

For the poster above, I have never fired a pistol from the hip, but it's obvious that doing so with this one may cause a problem.

The trigger is exceptional, the sights are nice and it fits well for my purpose.

How do you not notice a fireball like that?

I personally would avoid any ported gun for EDC. Hell no. Wreaks havoc on your eye sight in low light. Not to mention it'll be nearly impossible to shoot from any form of retention with that blast

That is a screen shot of about 1/1000 sec.
It actually took a while to be able to stop the video and find it.

Totally agree.  Makes no sense to me either.  Also don't like the idea of gasses coming up if you have to fire from retention position.

As a self defense pistol it doesn't make sense.

I still think it would be fun to shoot some handloads with Alliant Power Pistol out of it

I haven't checked the rules in a while, but does BUG even allow porting?

I have fired one in the daylight (neighbor's gun); didn't notice any flash. I shot it side by side with a M&P9C, there was not any difference on the target. At night - I'll have to see if I can give it a try, and yeah, I don't really want a ported gun for SD either.

That's great, I looked up that raw dog brand and it's exactly what I was after.  Not sure how it will fit, but it seems like what I have had pictured in my head.

I don't understand he need for 2 square feet of leather to hold a shield in place.

+1

I can kinda understand porting on the 40, but the 9?
