I waited and waited for a MaxiShield, and finally gave up about six months ago and bought an XD-S 4.0 in .45.  Bastards!

Its a dupe in GD.  I don't see it here in the S&W thread.

I'd like to see that grip texture carry over to the 9mm version.

They really do not telegraph their moves, I go to their website to check news about once a week or so. I never saw a coming soon or anything.  In light of the Remington R51 maybe that's a smart

move.

There's already a thread about it in GD and with the typical GD responses from the 9x19 and Glock fanboys.

Fellas, you're going to have to accept the fact that only the G20 will be the only real option right now for a 10mm polymer striker because for some reasoning the other major companies have some weird aversion to stepping into the 10mm game.

But if polymer is what you're after, Grand Power Centimeter looks promising with just 14 rounds of 10mm goodness but it's in DA/SA though so an FYI to those with a DA/SA aversion.

Seems about right to me, if the 9mm Shield MSRP is $450 and the MSRP of the .45acp is $480 then the .45s should drop to below $450 after the initial demand. In my area 9mm & .40 Shields are always under $400. Compared to the cheapest new XD-S I've come across which was priced at $500 the Shield .45 looks like a bargain even at MSRP.

I used to have a Kahr PM45, current MSRP on those are over $900. I don't even think $500 would get you a NIB Rock Island Armory 1911 commander.

I will wait until S&W has another factory sponsored sale at the LGS.   Would be a good pick-up at $400.

Well well, first I've heard of it. Definitely going to check this out due to me giving up on my XDS.

What happened with the XD-S?

I had the original which was great. Then the recall happened and after a long wait it came back with a terrible trigger which did not improve with use. I did the aftermarket spring thing and it was still terrible. I waited for awhile and tried a newer one and for some reason the block grip texture wasn't as comfortable this time around. I gave up hope and went with a G43.

I had Shields in 9mm and liked the shoot ability and size, but I've owned all sizes of the M&P in 9mm and they're not that accurate with any ammo I've tried in them. My M&Ps in 45 have been VERY accurate though with any ammo I put through them. Naturally the Shield in 45 seems to be exactly what I want. If it works out then the G43 will do pocket carry duty when IWB isn't an option.

I've been pretty impressed with my XD-S, but I still want to check out the new 45 Shield - I regularly carry 9mm and 40 variations now.

I was dead set on a 45c but I may wait for this to come out and see how it is. I will probably still end up with a 45c because I can shoot laser beams with my dads, such an awesome 45.

Looks like Smith & Wesson handed Glock its ass again. Lol

Wonder how it stacks up size wise to the 9/40 Shields.

Wait for a range report from the likes of some youtube star or one of our own who's a fair and impartial reviewer. New things, even just for a new caliber, tend to have issues at first.

I wonder how much smaller the .45 Shield is, when compared to a 4553TSW?

The dimensions are on S&W's website.

Addressing the MP9 accuracy issues or making a G19 sized MP9 would seem to a far better development than a .45 Shield.
Also, offering a MP style thumb safety instead of that bullshit thumb safety on the Shield would also be better news.
