What's preferable for the Shield's barrel length?

I am carrying Speer GDHP in 124 gr + P. Lots of youtube video's with shooting into ballistic gel out of the Shield and it is reliable.

I like the 147gr HST, but I think the 124s work well too

Mine likes 165s and 180s well enough... It gets too snappy to shoot 200s with any accuracy.
Mine is in 40sw if you hadn't guessed.

I have found GoldDot and Winny Ranger JHPs both cycle without any issues and are accurate for my needs,
I am currently carrying Rangers in 180gr in it.

I carry Hornady 135 grain Critical Duty or Winchester Ranger Bonded 147 with no problems.

I had been carrying Speer 124 +P Gold Dots, but I think I'm going to make the switch to 147 grain Gold Dots or Federal 147 grn HST. I've read the slower bullet loses less velocity which helps to keep it in the acceptable range for reliable expansion while still achieving desired penetration (or something like that). To be fair, they probably all work fine as long as it is quality ammo. Speer makes a "short barrel" load that is probably perfect, but I'm pretty sure it's only offered in 124 +P.

The literature states +P is not recommended.

Numbers-wise, 124gr is the optimal weight for 9mm (out of 115, 124, and 147 (standard pressure factory loads).

Can't remember if my Critical Duty stuff is 124 or 135gr, but somewhere in there is what I use.

I have 147g Hornady now but I noticed the rifling is marking the round. Gonna pick up some 124g today or tomorrow to see what fits/ runs best out of it.

I did a lot of research on carry ammo and the best performance I saw was Shooting the Bull on you tube.  He tested a couple dozen rounds and 3 or 4 meet his criteria which (if I remember correctly) matches the FBIs for performance. Of those I picked the Federal HST 124gr rounds for concealed carry.

The only issues I've had are with 147gr Rangers.

I usually keep my loaded with 124gr Gold Dots or HST's.
