Smith & Wesson M&P .45 Review

I love my M&P 45.  With the APEX trigger, it is amazing.  The only thing that I carry over it, is my 1911.

Love mine, with the FSS it is the best poly handgun I have shot.

My first M&P was a 45.  I still have it, but I find myself using my M&P 40 more often.

I love mine,  it is a pleasure to shoot.  I am going to get the M&P22 next to give my 45 a little sister.

I like mine so much I went and purchased a .22 and .40 version as well.  I don't shoot the .45 as much as I would like to due to ammo cost and so the .40 gets way more use.  Both of mine have the APEX kits in them but the .22 is stock.

Is anyone else running the apex trigger on theirs?  I could never shoot a factory set up again.

I will get one at some point. I have the 9 and the 40. The 45 will be the crown jewel of the set. It will get full Apex greatness of course

I had a first year production M&P 45. Didn't do anything for me... the 4566TSW and 4506-1 are more my thing for Smith .45s.

I bought one at an auction and never fired it until this past Friday.  I had it loaded with hollowpoints and decided I'd empty the magazine and shoot ball ammo.  As I unloaded the mag, the HP's tilted down and got hung up in the front of the magazine.  I sort of freaked so I shot one mag of HP's and then the ball ammo.  Everything was fine, but it sort of double underscored the whole idea of testing your defense ammo in the gun.  I got mine like new for $315 or so.  I love it!

Mine has been on me every time I've been in the woods for the last 2 years.
Better than a pointy stick when you're on the ground during archery season with a mess of them nearby...

Nice.

How is it, shooting suppressed with the factory sights? Does it affect the sight picture terribly?

This. Yeah the can is a good 1/8" above the sights. Nobody makes suppressor sights for the M&P, unless you wanna get Dawson precision to custom make them. And I think if you go that route, they look gigantic, unlike the neat looking glock ones that are so common. Ain't nobody got time fo dat. I just aim down the top of the can during daylight hours. Other than that, I shoot things in the dark with da laser beemz!!! I haven't even shot it unsuppressed yet lol.

The first semi-auto pistol I've ever owned. I love it. Shoots well. Handles easily. Fits my hand well and is very comfortable.
I have not changed out the trigger but read with interest everyone who comments about a difference in their pistol when they have done so for their gun.

Yep. WVSP switched to the 4566TSW in 2011, even though S&W doesn't produce those for the public any more.

Love mine is a big way.... I've got north of 25k rounds through it.  Accurate, reliable and FAST if you're running it hard.

I had one several years ago and enjoyed it, I should have kept it for sure. I stupidly consolidated calibers and got rid of my couple .45's. :( It shot and carried great!

I did the same thing, but happily got rid of all of my .40s.

I think the M&P 45 compact is the hidden gem in the striker fired pistol world.

I have a a M&P 45 and was curious if anyone else is getting peppered really bad when running a can or is that just a striker fired issue or a ammo issue .

The FS45s are far more accurate than the two M&P 9FS, one 9C and two Shield 9s I owned.

Did you have the older 1:18 twist barrel in the MP9s? My new MP9 is on par with my MP45

S&W replaced the barrel on my first FS9 with the updated one and the second one was bought two years later. Both of them, the 9C and Shield 9 did not display anywhere near what I'd call a decent group.
