It wouldn't make sense to me. The M&P9 is between a G17 and G19 but holds 17 rounds. The M&Pc is between a G19 and G26 and holds 12 rounds.

A 10mm would be cool or a redesigned .45 magazine that holds more rounds. What else could they do? Get into the tactical shotgun thing?

Yes.  The compromise is a failure.

I would be very happy with a 15 round gun.  Just a little shorter in the butt.

Same story for the 45c.  Smith has been teasing us just as badly with a G19 sized M&P9 as Glock has with a Shield sized single-stack 9mm.

Whoever makes one first, whether it's a S&W M&P 10mm or a Sig P320 10mm, they'll flood the market with used G20s and G29s.

If they even hint at one I'm selling both of mine.

Only if they shorten the frame and cylinder to take advantage of the shorter OAL of 9mm.  Otherwise there is no point or real advantage. I can get better performance for the same gun (size and weight) in 357 Mag.

Wouldn't want my J-frame to be any smaller, just would like to be able to use the same ammo as my semi-autos.

They could shave 3/8 inch off the cylinder and frame and put a 2.25 in barrel without changing the overall size of the gun.  This shortened cylinder/frame would reduce the bulk of the gun a lot.  The extra barrel length would help some with ballistics.  It would also reduce the weight of the gun if you wanted or you could simply add a under lugged barrel to keep the weight the same but feel slimmer in the pocket.

How much does it save you to be able to use the same ammo?  Are you going to shoot a J-frame enough for that to really matter?  It doesn't really work as a backup since you would need moon-clips and the time to put rounds on them if your trying to reload from you primary magazines.

Shorten the cylinder/frame and use a moon-clipless star extractor similar to the Charter Arms Pit-Bull and now we might have something desirable and useful.

Good points, but I doubt Smith would go that far. I actually shoot my 442 a lot and although I reload for it, I'd just like a 9mm option and would content with a 9mm 442. I hope Ruger's 9mm LCR sells like gangbusters as that's the only likely reason Smith would start making a 9mm revolver again IMO.

Very neat idea on shorting the frame to fit the shorter round. The 940 series was nice but heavy. If they made a J-frame in 9mm with different flavors they would sure sale like hot cakes.
I wonder if a S&W even reads these threads.

Last gun show, just before Christmas, all the dealers at that show sold out their Ruger LCR 9 stock in the first 4 hours of the show.  I wanted to look at one up close, but they were all gone!

From the article I believe that the "carbon fiber" isn't actually carbon fiber, but rather only a finish on polymer.

There you go using logic. S&W of today isn't about that. They're about crap quality trinkets that through the illusion of imitation harken back to better days of quality products, design, and innovation.

Maybe Smith is just thinking about us hardcore M&P fans. After the dimwits buy these sweet new carbon fiber guns, shoot them once then realize they're stupid, we buy them at a super discounted rate and just dye/paint them.

How that idea got trough the meetings/brainstorming is mind boggling.

220 Frame based. Not a high cap.

However, if it sells, then maybe it'll spur S&W to get off their hiney and produce a 10mm on the M&P 45 at least.
