I must have one.  Any leads on who will have them in stock first?

Any idea if S&W makes this one or Walther? Will full size mags fit?
Link Posted: 8/12/2014 6:39:00 PM EDT

It looks like the FS .22, which Walther makes.  Since it is supposedly 15% smaller than the Full Size, I assume that mags won't interchange.

Looks just like the other one with a concealed hammer and an external safety.

I want a real 22 M&P not a look a look like with a whole different manual of arms and trigger feel.

It says it right on S&W's site. Looking closer at the gun, this is not a smaller Walther. The barrel is one solid piece of steel like the Ruger SR22, so not the Watlher design.

Looks like a really fun gun and a great little .22. I agree, it's a shame they don't make a .22 M&P as a trainer but I imagine this will sell better. So does anyone else think it's funny after years of people wanting a G19 sized M&P, Smith decides to do it in .22?

Interesting. It clearly shows the muzzle nut for a thread adapter so that shouldn't be an issue. Says "Made in USA" which is nice. Might have to pick one up.

The S&W promo indicates a bulk pac of Winchester 22lr with each gun .
Does that mean the neckbeards will be grabbing them up?

From all the YouTube releases the last three days and S&W website this is what is consistent:

1)  Made in USA
2)  Threaded Barrel
3)  ~15% Smaller

Inconsistent:
22 Plinkster said 'striker fired' and the S&W website says hammer.  Maybe, 22Plinkster was trying to say the trigger was designed to imitate new model S&W M&P pistol striker fired triggers.  Not sure how a striker fired .22lr would work but I remember hearing rumors that S&W tried to do this with the original M&P22.

Anyways, I have the full size and I think I would rather have this thing...

^^ Can you elaborate on why you are glad you have the original?  Is that as opposed to this new compact version?

Also, who said or where has anyone read that they were going to stop making the full size?

It fits the FS holster and is the same size as an M&P 40/9. Mags hold 12 rounds rather than 10.

My only concern is that the S&W Team Captain is getting some pretty large groups with it at a very short distance. I think I'll be waiting for beta tester feedback first.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOiAUpHaWtY

ETA: These guys are claiming it's striker fired as well, but I'm sure it has a hammer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDoa0FBAfHM

It's listed at Bud's as well: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/93813/S%26W+M%26P22+108390+22LR+COMP+3.6+10R+BLK

So, as some of you may or may not know,

the barrel isn't threaded to P22 specs Fuckers.

They also don't give you a wrench for the barrel nut, once again, P22 wrench is no help here.

The barrel is threaded 3/8-24TPI. So we custom made an adapter.

I'd like to read a comparison between this and the Ruger SR22. I probably won't have to wait long for that...

Unfortunately this plinker in its current form is wayyy too dangerous for NY with that threaded barrel.

I was thinking about picking up a M&P22 FS, but I think I like these better.

Yes, accuracy was conspicuously absent from the report.  The Walther version (FS) is quite accurate, at least mine is.
If it is not currently up to S&W standards, I believe that they will figure out why and correct it.

My 1.875" barreled 442 revolver easily outshoots my M&P .40 FS and my .40 Shield at 10 yards.

I had a chance to handle a compact tonight.  Yes, I'm getting one - it felt a lot like my Shields.

Picked one up at a gun show today. I traded a CZ-52 w/2 Mags and some accessories + $80.00.

I am going shooting tomorrow.

The S&W M&P 22 is made for S&W by Walther in Germany.  In the most recent S&W Quarterly financial report they said the business relationship with Walther has ended.  I assume that means there will no longer be an M&P 22 full-size, at least not made by Walther.

First time shooting my M&P 22 Compact. Reliable, plus pleasant to shoot. Accuracy was meh. Then again, I was comparing it to a Ruger Mark II target model with 6" barrel.
