Interested in a core because I'd like a gun with an RMR on it for the range and maybe even home defense. I know typically a 5" would be more accurate because of the longer sight radius but since I'll be putting a red dot on it that point is moot. Is there less felt recoil with the 5" since I'm assuming it weighs more?

Got the shorter one just because I already had M&P holsters, etc for that size

I went with the shorter model. It's great.

I have the 5" and I am very pleased with it.

I have both and I prefer the 5".

I have the 5" and while happy with it I could go for a 4.25" for a little easier concealment on my smaller body.  Should you get a 4.25" only to later want a 5" I'd consider a trade.  Either way you will enjoy never lining up sights again!
