THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Is it possible to add a thumb safety to a M&P 40?
I know they make a 40 with a thumb safety but its not legal in CA.. prob because it hasnt been drop tested, and CA is "FILL IN YOUR FAV CA SLAM HERE"

Lets not start the "why do you want a thumb safety debate"

I want one one on there because this is will be my wifes primary carry.

if anything ill just get the .45 that is CA legal, she has fun with the 1911, so she shouldnt mind it. just would rather have a 40 for ammo purposes...

Thanks in advance!

If it has the cut outs in the frame, yes. Models like the VTAC have this for reference. If yours is a model that doesn't have a safety, and doesn't have the plastic plugs (again look at the VTAC to see what I'm describing) then you CANNOT add a thumb safety.

It has the "impression" for it but not the plastic plugs, so Its not possible then. also the inside of the frame is made differently and the slides are not identicle either.

appreciate the input thank you.

I just added one to my vtac. If it has the cutout in the frame you can add the lever, spring and cam. If not then no.

From all the pictures I found on google ( I dont own one with a thumb safety to do a side by side) They look different, maybe Im finding a diff model with a thumb safety.

The slides are identical, no matter what frame it is on.

Anyone have an external safety, cam and spring that they aren't needing, I am wanting to convert a vtac that I have on layway to match all the rest of my M&Ps
