THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I asked to see it, and immediately fell in love. This is the pistol that Glock should have made a long time ago.
Got it home and cleaned it really well.....they must've fired two mags thru it at the factory, because it was pretty dirty and they clearly used both mags to test fire it. At least I know it works....
Anyway, I'm gonna take it out tomorrow and put about 150 rounds through it, and make it my carry gun. Its hot as hell here, so I need something that can be concealed easily. The Shield seems to be the ticket.....only complaint so far is that it comes in a cardboard box. I want a kydex holster for it- who makes a decent kydex holster that someone has actually had some play time with? Any issues or problems with the Shield I should be on the lookout for? Oh, and as always, obligatory pics-

That gun is such a good deal you almost have to buy it. Especially at $402. They are selling like hot cakes, The local gun shops cant keep them in stock. Hopefully the quality is there, when producing so many so fast. Too early too tell.

S&W test fires all M&Ps with about 20 rounds at the factory. 10 for function, 10 for accuracy.
Raven Concealment makes a kydex holster for them. |

Congrats! I luckily had my LGS call me when I was on their list for a used Shield in 9mm for $350 before tax. The guy must of bought it for the newest thing, put a box or two through it and sell it back. The thing looked brand new inside and out so I think I did pretty good. I'm happy to see such an awesome carry gun selling well but I wish they would get the accuracy of their FS 9mm M&Ps in check.
I've been using an Old Faithful holster DIY Stage 3 kit for all day wear and an old Bianchi 100 made for a G26 that I had to stretch around the trigger guard for quick trips.

My only issue is with the dots in the sights falling out. It happened twice on my front and once to the rears.

I wish my BX had good guns in stock. I had to pay $500 otd for mine... at a gun show... 30 miles away...
It was literally the only one I've seen in 3 months of looking and didn't know when the next time I would see one would be. Now i'm just waiting on my Comp-tac minotaur MTAC |

I went with a front night sight and removed the paint from the other rear sight. Now the set up is like my other M & P's with 10-8 rears. |

I don't see why Glock should have made this model.
Why would Glock want to put an external safety on a small conceal carry pistol? |

I keed I keed!....maybe When people say Glock should of made a gun like this, they're referring to a slim/single stack 9mm. The safety can be left off or used depending on user preference. |

That's a good score these days. I got mine for $370 OTD before S&W stopped giving rebates on it. So, $320 OTD for the little beauty above. |

You guys are killing me, getting deals like that on your Shields. I am in central Arkansas and have yet to see one in
a gun store in this area. I had to pay over $500 to order one off GunBroker. I guess I could have waited a few months till one finally showed up at a local gunstore, but who wants to wait that long. I guess I should be most upset with Smith & Wesson for "dragging their ass" in getting these guns out and allowing the few "sharks" who are getting them to take our heads off with their rediculously high prices!!!______ Now I feel better. |

To those of you with both the Shield and compact version M&P, would you say it is worth getting rid of the compact version to get a Shield for CCW? I have a fullsize for a nightstand/fun gun and currently carry a compact as my CCW.

I sold my .40c I found that if I wanted to carry it I might as well carry my fullsize 9. It only a little bigger. Now I have carried a bodygaurd for over a year and have both cw9 and cm9 but Ive been wanting one of these for a while. Now I own this exact gun posted above.

Well, the reality is that S&W had 25,000 Shields ready to go before they introduced it and sold them all with-in the first two weeks. They marketed them very well, but they probably still didn't expect it to take off the way it did. |

I was lucky enough stumble upon one in Gander Mountain yesterday, had to pay retail price, but well worth it. I had been waiting for months to get one. When I had been to the store 3 weeks prior, the gunsmith said people had been coming in asking for them and there were not any for sale in all of Gander Mountain's stores. |
