THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
i'm looking for an affordable light for bedside use and trying to keep it reasonable in price (surefire is great but way out of my price point).

anybody have any issue with the reported issues with sizing 'keys' on the TLR-3? I think i want one but there's a handful of reviews out there that say the retention lips have failed or that the tension screws have backed out during shooting.

Seems like a good value but would love to hear any reviews, good and/or bad. thanks.

Decent light for the money, just make sure you use a dab of Loctite if it is your carry/HD gun.

I own 2, mounted on 2 m&ps. They are fragile, but no other light I'm aware of is as slim. I recall having to sand off some material on a key to get it put together. Also, don't torque the screw down too hard, it can cause the plastic frame to snap under recoil. This happened to me early in a class once. Without the light the gun was unsecure in my kydex holster, and I had to use a backup the remainder of the class. Streamlight replaced the light under warranty.

I really wish someone made a similar profile light with a metal frame.

I use one and they're fine.

TLR-1's are out there lately for $99 so that's a better deal.

Makes me wonder if Streamlight is closing these out in prep for new models.

It's a great, small, low profile light for the money. Mine serves my HD needs well. Not as durable as the TRL1 and I'd not use for duty/carry.

based on the feedback here, I may go with the TLR-1. Don't like hearing the TLR-3 called delicate. I prefer to cry once as they say. Also, it sounds like others are torquing them too tight since some are reporting the keys busting.

How about the Insight Technologies X2 LED?

I've got a TLR-1s On my 4 inch 1911, a TLR-3 on an HK USPc, and an X2 LED that I used to use on my P226. I recently let my girl put it on her M&P 9c since she said she wanted to try it out and maybe buy one for herself.

I like the X2 for its simplicity and ease of lock-up on 1913 rails.

The thing I like aboutt he TLR-3 is that is is even with the muzzle on most full size pistols, so you don't have to get a rediculously tall holster for it (matters if you OWB carry). The proper key for the M&P9 puts the switch in a very comfortable position for use with the trigger finger or support thumb, and I don't have overly long fingers.
Please dont take it personally, the ad hominem is simply my favorite fallacy...
