THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
thinking about selling it if I can get enough for it. I know there's police trade ins galore but they're usually fairly worn condition. Is there a market for these?

Be about $800 arond here if it is not a DA only.
The shop I work in has had a few DA only come through and they went for between $500 an $600. In the year and a half I have been there have not had a double/single come in.

The above post shocks me. Locally, S&W 3rd Gens are the proverbial red-headed stepchild of the gun world (SA/DA or DAO, it makes no difference). $300, maybe $400 if minty with box and all accessories. Personally, I like 'em, but I seem to be the minority opinion.

Ditto. Even the TSWs don't really pull a premium that I've noticed. I think I paid $300 for a 5946 and $400 for a single-stack 4053.

Hard to see more than $400. The police trade ins have depressed the market and 3rd gen Smiths just aren't the cool kid on the block. I like them but I know I'm in the minority.

I had a hard time selling a NIB 4006 Tactical for $400.00 last year.

I agree that $800 sounds very high, I think $500 would be a high figure around here. Some of the .45 and 10mms have some desirability along with the smaller 9mms (3913/etc) but the full size .40s aren't high demand items and tons of trade ins have been dumped on the market.

Damn guys, we just don't see any around here at all. Now the 6906 is $400 all day. We have a 4506 right now for $650 and it's a nice pistol but not real nice. I nee to make a road trip!

Thanks that's pretty much what I figured. The crazy part is the workmanship and quality on these pistols is so stellar. I think eventually one day more 3rd gen S&W's will be collectable.
