So my friend tells me that there are people who can modify your Beretta to use a frame-mounted safety instead of a slide-mounted one. Now, I've actually come to terms with the slide-mounted safety myself; it's actually not nearly as much of a bother as I thought, and DA/SA means I don't even fiddle with it, even when carrying. But where do people source these safety-less slides for the conversion? Do they machine their own? I can't really rule out that I wouldn't be interested in doing the conversion in the future.

This archived thread will steer you in the right direction.  The forth post gives a link to the Beretta forum with how it's done and which slide to use.
