Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - M9 guide rod and spring

Just purchased a new metal guide rod and spring direct from Beretta for my M9 and the spring that comes with the metal guide rod is longer than what came with the plastic rod that's on the gun, is this normal?

I suppose it's more about the weight than the length. Does it fit and function okay?
