I have a 96D that when it ejects spent casings, They vary drastically in distance. anywhere from 3 ft to 25ft usually around the 4oclockish direction. Anything I should be concerned about other than it being a pain to look for/pick up brass. And being stuck on the right end of the shooting line.

Depending on how many rounds have been through the gun.

Pull the extractor and inspect it for sharp edges and nothing gumming it up. Clean it real well. The extractor groove should be clean and sharp.

Replace the extractor spring while you are in there.

Replace the recoil guide spring with fresh factory spec spring.

Above is good stuff to take care of for an older gun.

My 96D does the same thing.  I've never had a problem with it though.
