I've wanted a Beretta 92 since I had a to-scale capgun version when I was a kid. Went to a local gunshow today and found a NIB 92A1 that I couldn't get out of my mind so I brought it home with me. Field stripped it per the manual. Used CLP to clean it up and lubed the rails, block etc. Put 200 rounds of Winchester White Box 115gr FMJ through it no issues. After my fun time was over, took it inside to clean it again. Upon doing so I noticed some small but noticeable wear on the frame anodizing near the end of the trigger bar travel peak that wasn't there before. Is this normal wear for just 200 rounds?

I know a firearm is a machine with moving parts and it will wear, however I've never seen another 92 have wear there. Although to be fair the only real life 92s I've ever handled/seen up till now were stainless finishes. Do you guys think I have anything to worry about, or is this normal?

I took a pic with the bar at its furthest peak (trigger fully depressed) and a pic with the bar fully retracted (trigger at rest)

Thanks!

Fuel,

I had to go look at my 92FS. Yes, there is a very very faint mark where the bar has contacted the frame at some point. Not as pronounced as yours. In fact the bar actually stands off the frame by several thousands and actually lifts away as the trigger is pulled. Perhaps there is a burr on the end of the bar that is marking up the frame.

I think what you have there is annoying as you have a new pistol, but is not a problem with functioning. Give Beretta a call. Make 'em earn their keep.

By the way, my 92FS is pre-worn! In other words, I bought a very cosmetically challenged 92FS. The price was right. You gotta wonder how a pistol comes to be so abused cosmetically. Cosmetics aside, the pistol is a joy to shoot, and dead reliable. It became an instant favourite.

The 92A1 is a great gun. I'm in love with mine.

I have put about 400 rounds down range with mine and I don't have any wear in that area of the frame.

I've had wear like that on a couple 92FS models.

Worked fine.

Thanks for the replies guys. The 92A1 is an awesome gun and I love it. Like I said in the first post, it performed great. I was just worried when I saw that wear after I got done as I didn't recall that being a normal wear parrten for these guns. However it sounds like it might happen sometimes.

I think I'm still going to give Beretta a shout just to see if they think there could be a problem with something being out of spec/wrong that could cause an issue down the line.

Thanks!
