I have been looking for a Sig P220 Elite, 10MM, SS SAO for awhile. I was at a local gun show in Raleigh,NC when I ran up on a new one in the box a dealer had. After holding the gun I knew I had to have it.
I got it for $1200 even out the door, which isn't a deal, But I couldn't of got it off gun broker any cheaper after all the fees and shipping. And for those who own these guns know that magazines are a little rare right now for the gun. However the dealer had a bunch of extras to sell. So I bought five extra mags and along with the two that came with the gun that gives me an ample supply of mags I feel. And before anyone ask about how the mags fit? Yes the mags fit snug in the gun, but not overly tight as I have read others complain about the mags being very tight.
Let me shut up and show some pictures of the beauty.

Have you gone and shot it yet? Is it a NIB gun or pre owned? Is the slide release easy or hard to use? Mine is getting better, but still very stiff to use it to drop the slide.
They are nice guns and the trigger gets a bit better after you put a few hundred down the pipe, unfortunately I don't think it will ever get to 1911 trigger pull though.

Have not shot it yet.
It is NIB.
Slide release is firm but not hard.
I will try to get to the range in the next few weeks to use.
I agree the trigger will never be as good as a quality 1911.

I read the review American Rifleman did on it.
Wow, it was accurate big time. Like 1.5" @ 25 yards for 25 rounds accurate.

I already had a long slide in 10mm, but wanted the Sig as well. Unfortunately the only one I can still find is the Kryptic camo version. Mine 10's

Sig only lists the camo version on the site but you can find the the Two-tone DA/SA (out of stock everywhere it seems), all black SAO, all stainless SAO, and the FDE Scorpion DA/SA fairly easily. I just put the Scorpion on layaway, I like the two tone better but the Scorpion is the only DA/SA I can find in stock, I insist on DA/SA over SAO for a woods gun, both for the lack of thumb safety and I'd rather have a decocked pistol on my chest.

I have the two-tone Lipsey's DA/SA gun and even after around 275 rounds...the slide stop is hard to use. It's not as hard to use now as it was when I first got it, but it's still pretty stiff. I don't need to use two hands to drop the slide anymore, but every now and again I still need to shift my grip to put more leverage on it to drop it. So it does get better...

I still need to get used to putting my thumb over my support hand, otherwise it continually rides the slide release and it never locks back.

I have a P220 Elite Stainless in .45 Auto and honestly my slide stop is very stiff as well.  I only have about 250 rounds through mine and it has gotten better over time but it is still very, very stiff.

OP, nice rosewood grips on yours. Will you keep them or go to a G10 style?

This will be a range gun, so the stock grips will stay on it.

Nothing wrong with that. I change mine over to a G10 style because (as you know) the southern summers generate a good bit of palm sweat.

Loves me some rosewood!

Nice gun.  I just saw the SKU number for the Legion branded 220 in 10mm.  That I want.

There's really not much to separate them, not enough to make it worth it to sell my DA/SA and take the hit on it to roll it into a Legion. Assuming their legion is the DA/SA variant and not the SAO variant, which I personally wouldn't buy.

I just hope someone start selling P220 Legion slide releases separately That's about all I find really neat on them...

I like the Legion sights and that they come with a action job already done.

I'm looking at the the 10mm Match Elite which is DA/SA with the SRT already installed.  I am looking at the DA/SA because Sig will do an action job on that trigger, they won't do it on the SAO.   The trigger job from Sig is quite good and preserves the full warranty from Sig.

The trigger job I might spring for separately but I've heard lately the Sig Custom Shop's trigger jobs have been hit or miss...I've been thinking of sending it to either Mr. Burke or Mr. Gray for their Sig-approved trigger jobs. More expensive, but apparently very worth it. I haven't seen the X-Ray sights yet so I'm not sure the juice would be worth the squeeze over the factory night sights...

I've got a holster from goodmedicine on the way, should be here in a day or two, for my 10mm. Now to line up a set of IWB struts and such for it, and it doesn't look like Raven Concealment sells offset wings for IWB loops anymore

Edit - yes, he can do a holster for a 5" Sig...don't know if he has the bits to do it for an SAO if you want a full sweat/body shield on it to encompass the safety, but he does for a DA/SA for sure and I'm sure he can figure something out for the SAO guns if someone can send him a SAO mold gun to work from, even if it's just a standard length 4.4" model...

It's set up to accomidate suppressor-height sights too, and with a little bending it'll fit a threaded barrel, if I decide to add one to it later.

If you don't like the camo, it comes off with a little bath in acetone and some toothbrush action.  Its a little hard to get into all the little nooks and crannies but I'm happy I took the time to take it off.
