I carry full size so I'm going to say you bought the right gun.

Love my P225 A-1. That SRT trigger is great! If you're that unhappy with the P229 trade it in for the P225. Or in the case of GD get both! From my understanding the P225 is just a slimmed down, single stack version of the P229. Your state is limited to 8 rounds now anyways correct?

Carrying my 229 in .40 right now; What's the problem with your 229 that you can't carry it?

could be a bit wide depending on your body type. I had a p225 back in the day (the police trade-in ones that couldn't feed jhp's worth a damn) and it was really thin. Much thinner than the 229 I had at the time.

I have a P229 in 9mm and like it a lot but a friend showed me his P225a1 and wow, that is a slick pistol for carrying.

A quarter inch. .25". That's all it costs you to go double stack.

I have no use for a single stack, but then if you're in a restricted state...move?

I have an M11-A1 and a 225-A1. Have too admit now that it is warmer, I carry the 225 with an IWB holster more. Once the cold weather hits, I'll probably switch back to the M11 in an OWB holster.
Isn't it a rule to get both?

The 225 isn't that much smaller.  At one time I had both a 228 and a 225.  The 225 didn't do anything that the 228 did better.  Sold it and never looked back.  For a single stack the 225 is kind of chunky.

Is the 229 roughly the same size as a G19?
I'm on the fence if I want to carry a 229 as well.

I'd say to go with whatever makes you happy. I carry my P229R in .357 SIG when I'm off the clock, and have never had problems concealing it. The size of the P229 is perfect for me as it can be easily carried, but performs and handles like a full size pistol. Capacity is respectable, and reliability is perfect.

If, for some reason, the P225 seems like a better option for you, then by all means get one. Just don't toss the P229 aside until you've tried it. I absolutely love mine.

I'd say similar enough. My .40 229 is a little taller and quite a bit wider though. And on second look it seems my 226 in 9mm is similar to width to my 229.

Edit: Just want to add that I carry a 229 higher up on my body than a Glock19 because how much wider mine is. I noticed that if I carry it with the clips higher up bringing the gun lower to my waste it is very uncomfortable. But I I lower the clips forcing the gun up higher I can't even notice I am carrying a different gun than a Glock 19. I'd say where you carry and how you do so plays a larger difference that what you carry.

If anyone wants pictures to help show what I mean I can get some.

Had a 229 in 40 S&W with a rail. Carried like a tank.
Have a M11A1 (229 in 9mm with out rail) Carries in the same leather OWB holster as my G23.
The Sig is a few ounces heavier but without notice with a good belt. If you carry a G19/23
you will have no problems with a 229 in 9mm. It's not so much what you carry, but how you carry.

The 229 was the right choice. Probably one of the more versatile pistols in the line up

It is a thick gripped bastard for being a "compact."

Especially since it uses metal mags and only has a 13+1 capacity in 9mm.

Do you want to see a 229 next to a 225 (P6)?  They're almost the same size FWIW and the legion you got is quite nice.

I'd suggest comparing the P239 with the P225 if size is your concern, its my favorite Sig for IWB  carry.

Since you can only carry 7 rounds, it's the only instance I'd say yes.

I carry a P228 and it's not too wide for me; but I get 15 rounds

I have both an m11 and 225a1. 10 round ny mag vs 8 round 225 a1.  225 a1 shoots great.  I agree the 229/m11 is a great gun especially if you can have 15 rounds but if the difference is the ny 10 rounder vs the 8 round 225a1. The 225a1 is gtg
