What's an older 226 9mm carbon slide pistol going for?  No box, just a mag with a little wear.  Ideas on range to look for?

Yep, $500 is what I came to post.

As the OP stated, no box etc, just one mag.

I've owned quite a few Sigs both folded and welded slides and stainless forged slides.
I really don't agree with all the gushing for the folded and welded slides, I much prefer the newer stainless slides. I'd go $600 if the OP's Sig was of the newer variety.

This past week Coles sold about 30 p228's for around $350 or less.  They were beat, but still.

Well yeah, pretty much any $350 sig is gonna be.  And P228's usually go for more than a 226 all things equal.  Just saying, it's not all that far fetched of a price if the thing is beat up enough.

Unless it is for nostalgia, there is no reason to buy one.

They were good pistols...but they had their issues.  They could rust easily and the block had to be pinned to the slide with two pins that were one time use.

God help you if you got it wet and had to detail strip it...

The had a decent trigger but nothing magical.

The internal extractor was like a 1911, tension by bending...a problem over time.

The current 226 is a much better pistol.

in your humble opinion.  I've have read that the internal extractor is the most robust versions and seldom if ever needs any tuning or replacement.  The long version on the newer guns does not have that same reputation
