Here is why I say that. I have used a G19 as EDC for 15 years. I have shot my G17 for range and tactical use. Over 100K through this platform. Why would I need anything else? The damn thing works.
Then I went and shot with my buddy who is AZ Highway Patrol. His duty weapon is a P226 in .40. He told me I needed a Sig so I could see that you can get enjoyment from shooting a fine piece of equipment as opposed to just a gun that does the job. So I bought a Threaded MK25 P226 three months ago. First time shooting it I realized that two different guns may both be reliable etc, but one of them may just be a tool and the other may be highly enjoyable experience. I was hooked. I haven't shot my Glocks since. Since then I have purchased the following along with making sure all of them have Hogue G10 grips and SRT triggers. Legion P226 Legion P229 MK 25 Desert MK 25 Nitron Threaded German P228 Police Trade In P226 Combat P226 P226 Dark Elite P227 Desert Holy shit these things are fun. I now LOVE dry fire practice where it used to be a task I did because I knew I should. Then I thought, what else am I missing. So I ordered a P320....Damn its nice. To round out the collection I have a P938 and 2022 inbound as well. I am thinking of adding a Sig P227 SAS Gen 2 and a M11-A1. Then my buddy calls me and tells me his department is switching to FN and he will have to turn in his P226. The officers who were in the first round to turn in their guns were able to purchase their old duty weapon if they wanted. But now because of some internal bullshit or something when my buddy turns his in he can't purchase it. His daily companion for 13 years and he can't keep it. I felt it couldn't end like that for him so I bought him a P226 combat in 9mm for Christmas. At least that way he can still have a Sig in the house. So, the moral of the story is if you realize there is more to a gun than just having it go bang because you try a Sig, you may develop an addiction. |

Welcome to the Sig-ness. Just so you know, there is no known cure.

I have a 226 Tactical, I wanted one for years and I had to save a while to get it.
I wont sell it, because it reminds me... even common folk deserve to be treated once and a while. |

OP
Your post gave me a huge grin. I have got a lot of catching up to do. (MK25 TB, P938 & P320C) Would like to meet your buddy, just not with his lights on behind me though. |

I got bit by the Sig bug a few months back... it is expensive, but so far I don't need any therapy

My buddy saved my life about 20 years ago. I owe him a lot more than a handgun.
He is a hell of an officer. He is really the nicest guy I know. |

You can stop once you get an X5. View Quote One? OP has got it right; there's far more to a fine handgun experience than shooting a gun that simply goes bang. There's too much " my plastic fantastic does everything that a fine premium pistol does" going around; because it doesn't. |

1993 P226 - Favorite gun of all time 1995 P230 alloy favorite "pocket pistol" of all time and I have a lot 2013 P239 - 3 caliber gun. .40 with .357 and 9mm barrels. Top heavy and hammer bites when carrying but very solid and reliable. 2015 P320 .45 Compact Small Frame. Outstanding 2016 MCX - Recalled but the only issue I had was the Okay mag it came with looked very used. 2016 P320 9mm FTX 9 times in first 150 rds. Still need to get back to the range to try another time before returning to Sig. I love the Sigs but the last 2 are bugging me. |

Well, here I come. After seeing a couple of video reviews I couldn't resist and ordered a 226 Legion SAO.

Any ideas how long the German ban on exports is going to last? Prices on X5/6 gonna be high until then. View Quote Depending on who you listen to, Sig, De. is nearly defunct while Sig USA is a freight train that can't seem to be stopped. As much as I am VERY glad Sig, USA is rolling along I REALLLLLLY want more German Sigs......wish the export nightmare would END!!!! |

In late '11 early '12 I remember a large number of German manufactured 226 E2s with night sights hit GB. I regret not picking one up while they lasted, as well as an X5 or X6. |

My obsession started with a weekend trip to Bern, Switzerland while stationed at Ramstein AB, W.Germany. I happened across a gun store where the shop owner proudly showed me all of the Sigs in his display case, knowing I was an American and could not buy one. I bought a P230 from Zweibrucken Rod and Gun Club before my tour ended to bring back. Now, I'm about to drive 5 hrs to buy a Sig Legion 9mm, which will be my fifth 226.

I'm officially one of you. Just got home with my 226 Legion SAO.
First impressions are WOW, love the trigger and sights. The mags weren't the PVD coated ones though it won't matter as I'll be using 18rd Mec Gars. When did SIG stop doing the "SIG SAUER" grip wrap? |
|
Legions are so sexy it isn't even funny. My 225 was supposed to be Legion grey but KG sent me crap guncoat that wouldn't stir up.

Bitten by the SIG bug as well, and whats worse is being less than an hour from the academy/pro shop.
P226-22 with 9mm xchange kit P229 SAS Custom Shop two-tone (special run they had) 9mm with .357SIG xchange kit P220 SAS .45 P320 Sub-Compact with full size xchange kit both 9mm 1911 Extreme P229 Legion 9mm P226 Legion 9mm 556xi Had a P220 Dark Elite which I sold to buy the 1911 and had a P250 which I sold to buy the P229 never had any issues with the pistols or the rifle - will gladly buy another SIG (MPX?) again. Looking forward to running the P226 Legion through its paces at the academy in the coming months |

The full frame P220 Elite is incredible, shear beauty in wood and steel.

View Quote I had failures to extract with my P320c pretty much every mag when shooting Winchester white box. But it shot Lawman, American Eagle, and Perfecta with no issue. I got tired of avoiding Winchester ammo so I called Sig and they sent me a new extractor spring pin. It's about 1mm longer than the original pin. Since then I've put about 300 rounds of Winchester white box through it without a problem. |

So got my first SIG Friday. 226 Legion SAO.
Now have 229 Legion and 226 Combat TB on the way. |
|
Lol got the "SIGness" a few years ago after buying my first Sig, a German made stamped steel slide P220. Now own that P220, along with P226, P228, P229, P320, P938, 1911 & MPX.

I've got...
1x P320 compact 2x P6 3x P228 (parts kit builds on 80% receivers) 1x "sig" (really GSG) 1911-22 upper on a 80% reciever My OCD requires me to get another P320 and look for another P228 (factory gun this time) |
|
First handgun was a West German P226...
I've also had/have P220 P220R P229 9mm P229 40SW P245 P228R P938 Trailside (ok, not really a Sig) Couple 556 rifles |
|
That's a nice collection. Reminds me I need to get a P226 and a P229 Legion or M11-A1. I've been too busy focusing on the P320's lately.

Bought my first handgun when I turned 21 in '15, G19, just as an EDC and all round utility gun. 5 months later, I'm in my LGS just perusing the brand new P220s. Noticed a used West German made P220 in the bottom of the case. Walked out with it 20 minutes later. Haven't shot my Glock since. I have the Sig-ness. And it got worse over Christmas when I bought my M11A1. It's already my new EDC. And I just keep wanting more. There's no cure, but who could ever want to be cured of the Sig-ness.

<< I have had this board name since 2002
I really likes Sigs and my all around favorite is a P2022. Some of their marketing and product is bullshit but the P series guns are nice. |
|
You and your Bud are right on this! I too love my Glock! Been shoot'n them since they got here, in the US. Nothing's more reliable on the planet, than a G17! But Damn It, there's nothing as comfortable as my 226ee with the E2 grips, and long Beavertail! My Beretta 92fs is a close second for comfort, but not as smooth shooting as the Sig! I'd like to add that quality of this new 2015mfg Sig, put my old German 226 to shame, in EVERY facet! Sig is at the top of their game, and yes, it's time for more Sigs!

I got a P225 A-1 not too long ago. I now have the sickness as well. I think I'll be getting a P226 next.

I shot my dads p226 legion and p225-a1 in october and knew i had to buy one. Sold my G19&43 then bought my Legion SAO on christmas eve. Yesterday closed on a deal for a p229 Legion and have an "order" in for a p320 rx compact the moment it arrives at my LGS. I am hunting for a good deal on a p225-a1 next... I cant believe how addictive the Sigs are after shooting so many brands and owning a lot of guns. |

Sig P220 has been an awakening for me, I cant stop acquiring them. Followed by the P226 & P228.

|
Got my 226R with the .22 upper slide.
I love it and its super accurate but I had to literally glue pennies to get it and I was glad. Sig had a LE/MIL discount and rebate program. Also my Sig dealer was closing out and I was lucky to get hi cap MegGars from him for about 15 bucks each. Threaded barrel plus my time with CrimSon Trace and it has awesome laser grips on it. I love the hell out of it..... |
|
What I like is the amount of variation in the models.. I have Elite Dark P229, Two tone P226, and P239 (in SAS and two tone)
|

My first carry gun was a 220 I got in the 80's. Still remember dealing with Tyson's Corner.
I always thought highly of the gun as I picked more up over the years. Don't think much of the newer line. Picked up a new patrol rifle couple of years ago on sale. Gun was reliable (unlike some of their other rifles) but the quality of workmanship was pure shit, even for the price. |
