Sig P938, school me because I really want one. I've carried a 1911 off and on for nearly 30 years but how is it really for a CCW gun??

Do it then get colt mustang spring kit and parts production trigger and you will be very happy.
spring kit Trigger |

I'd imagine it is harder to shoot due to size but how bad can it be since it is from Sig?
A 380 spring kit in a 9mm? What could possibly go wrong? Then again I don't know what weight the spring is to start with on the two items. |

I have the Extreme model. It is real easy to conceal in the summer with just a T-shirt
on. As long as you don't have humongous hands, holding and shooting it isn't a problem. I hold/shoot it with my pinky finger under the bottom of the mag, even the extended ones. Very accurate. And being used to 1911s, the trigger and slide safety are basically the same. It was my first Sig, since then I picked up a SP2022, and there are 2 or 3 more that I would like to own. Welcome to the Signess. |

If you are familiar with carrying a 1911, then a P938 should be no problem...I consider it to be a "baby" 1911.

Love mine, very easy to conceal in a pocket. Surprisingly easy to shoot accurately for its size. I have large hands, prefer the 7rnd magazines with the extension over flush 6.

I just picked mine up yesterday. Haven't shot it yet, but first impressions are very positive.
I have two 238's, the 238 to me still seems like a better size for pocket carry, being smaller and lighter. The 938 feels more "substantial" than the 238, but it should since its bigger and heavier. Compared to my Glock 43, the 938 feels much better in hand. I see a second 938 in my future. Attached File |

The wife had a 938 extreme and ended up selling it.
The magazines kept releasing while firing (I suspect poor grip activating mag catch) and the trigger was pretty stiff. It was a very nice firearm and I never had any issues with it but I don't like manual safeties. |
|
I simply love my 938. I have nothing but the 7rd mags as I have large hands, so the pinky rest was a must-have.
Mine has been 100% reliable & amazingly accurate for such a short bbl. Night sights included as OEM. What's not to love? |
|
Love my 938. It replaced my p228 as my daily carry.
It is awesome in a Milt Sparks VM2. |

It's a beautiful thing. I carry it 24/7. At approximately 4-5 o'clock position. I have been able to pocket carry with a #3 Blackhawk pocket holster. But only with decently sized pockets. Big jean pockets are ok. But if they're snug pants it's a non-starter. I use a Crossbreed mini-tuck for IWB carry almost exclusively. |
|
I have the 938 Nightmare. It's my M-F work gun. I carry it in a pocket holster.

I forgot about that. Just an example picture. I do have a Galco Stow-n-go inside the pants holster that slides nicely into my right front jeans pocket. Slide the belt clip over the pocket lip and it's ready for presentation. Need a long sweatshirt/t-shirt or coat for concealment. But works good bumming around running errands. If I'm in and out of vehicle. I can easily pull it out and set it in the center console. Edit to add: Set it in center console while driving, for more comfort and accessibility. I don't go anywhere without a gun. I avoid gun free zones. |
|
I had a P238 Scorpion
Awesome little gun and very accurate. I'm sure the 938 will be the same. |
|
Made the mistake of checking one out at the LGS.
BRG model with the 7 rd mag is lovely. Must have one. |

I also fell into the "handled it, had to have it" camp last week. I was looking for a carry gun after selling my P11 (recoil too snappy, needed money at the time) and was initially looking at only spending $400ish on something like a CCP or maybe complementing my CZ75B with a 75D PCR. Handled one of these at a shop after asking what they had in "1911 style" carry pistols for giggles and wound up with a used Extreme that had virtually no rounds through it, some spare mags, and a Galco holster. Fits great in my smallish hands and the quality was certainly worth the extra money and it should be great all 12 months of the year.

Been carrying a 938 SAS for the last six months and love it. Surprisingly accurate for a small frame pistol.

You guys pocket carrying - are you going condition 1 or 3? Using a rigid or soft holster?
I've carried a 1911, condition 1 in a holster. Just thinking about the number of times the factory safety accidentally got flipped off in my open top rig. |

Thanks for all the input guys.
I finally sold a house I've been trying to flip for a few years but my wife talked me into renting it out. A LGS had a 938 Extreme in stock recently so I'll call this morning and if they have it I'll go get it after we close on this house today, it's payday. Cha-ching |

I had a choice between the 238 and 938 Extreme versions--picked up the 238 Extreme yesterday. As much as I wanted the 938, the 238 felt better in hand. It came with 7 and 6 round magazines. The barrel on the 238 is pretty thin...is it like that on the 938? |

Have a 938 , carry it in cargo pants/shorts thigh pocket with a DeSantis R8 pocket holster with the flap. Great gun accurate and sharp looking to boot whats not to like about it..

Love mine. Recently fired 400 rounds of cheap reloads spread throughout 2 range trips without any cleaning or lubrication including rapid fire as fast I could pull the trigger and it ran 100%. Gun is easy to shoot well for being such a tiny gun and the recoil doesn't beat you up. Total I have about 800 rounds through mine and no failures of any sort. Comes with night sights from the factory, is very small and easy to conceal, and it is a good-looking gun. I really can't find any downsides to this gun (unless you don't like manual safeties) and it's my EDC.

I ordered a P938 w/Army Green frame instead of the Extreme. I may install the Extreme style grips later but I just wanted the green frame.

I bought one today, finally. Same model as the FDE gun shown above.
Even though I checked sweeping the safety off upon drawing at the gun shops, it's just a little too far aft at the range. Part of that is lack of familiarity and training with the pistol. I'm happy with mine so far. I shot two brands of factory ammuntion, and two different handloads (two gunpowders, two charge weights each) with Rainier bullets. Recoil with the Hogue grip and extended magazine is no issue. |
|
I picked up my duo tone BRG version today, essentially the budget model, still extremely nice.
Gotta figure out how to carry it as a backup. Not sure I want to do ankle, but everything I tried for IWB sucked. |
|
I hope mine arrives later this week, feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

I finally got to go out today and shot my P938 , I was not disappointed. The only complaint I have as a long time 1911 owner, the trigger is a tad heavier than I like. I put over a hundred rounds through it from 115-165 grains and had ZERO malfunctions, I did notice the heavier grain bullets grouped higher than the lighter bullets. What ammo are most of you using for carry ammo?
|
|
I picked up a Nightmare when they first came out. Instantly lost it to my old lady. It is here EDC now. Between the two of us we have 800 to 900 flawless rounds through it. It is a bit small for my hands, so I did not pick up another one for myself. All around a very fine weapon. Accurate and reliable.

Bird View Quote I had the same issue and did the same fix. It was still possible to dislodge the extended mag if you had a firm grip and your pinky finger is pushing the mag down. I had some other issue I can't exactly recall. I was unimpressed and sold it. With small striker fired handguns finally hitting the market, it was no longer necessary to carry a single action pocket pistol to avoid 12lb DAO only abominations. I still keep my Colt Mustang because I will never get the money I have into it as I had C&S install big dot sights on it. |

938 is the only gun I've been able to effectively carry and conceal comfortably. Love mine.
