with the market flooded at least around here ...with 226, 229, 2022, 250... some DAK some SA/DA  I am going to regret it if I don't pick something up...really looking at the 226 and 229..  there are a few between $450 and $550 locally.  since I traded my FNX 40 I have all this ammo and no gun... shame on me!

I guess a lot of LEO's have dropped the .40 which put a lot of guns into the market-all brands. I sold a P226 last year for $600, only to help pay for a P226 Legion .40. I have a .357 SIG barrel to give me another option to shoot when I feel like playing sometimes.

I just picked up a P229R .40 that came with night sights, 3 factory 12 round mags, a .22LR conversion kit, and 3 factory mags for the .22 conversion. It has the DAK trigger system, and I love it. The deals currently available on these are not to be passed up. Awesome guns!

I ordered a P220 DAK trade in for $400 a few days ago. If it looks like the guns in the pic the seller sent me, I'm going to be happy. A few silver specks on the frame at the rail is about the only sign of use. He said that most looked like they had only been carried a short time and not shot much. I hope it's in as nice shape as the P220 Elite Stainless I had years ago. It came with custom zebrawood grips, the stock wooden ones, and some rubber ones. I only paid $550 for it and I made a quick $200 on it before I even got it out the door of the FFL. That gun was nearly flawless.

If you like .40 it is a great time to buy.  The caliber is clearly declining in popularity so supply is exceeding demand a fair bit.

Lots of cheap .40S&W trade ins as of late.  If you want a .40, now's the time to get them.

Due to the fire sale pricing on police surplus and places actually giving .40S&W brass away if you want it.
I'm going to get back into .40S&W just to take advantage of the cost savings these offer.

I just picked up an excellent condition police trade-in P220R 45acp with night sights, three mags, and SRT for $375. Used Sigs sure don't hold their value.

Where? That is a crazy deal.

And its just that Sigs, especially in .40, tend to be on the of the most popular pistols for LE to trade in right now. There have always been deals on the .40s, but I've never seen a .45 that cheap. At the point the pistol costs the same as about 1500 rounds, you are getting a damn good deal.

That's an odd statement.  Sigs hold their value as well or better than any other manufacturer, however the rules of supply and demand always apply.  If the market gets flooded with something, the price goes down.  If S&W found a warehouse with 250,000 1076 10mms, they wouldn't be selling for $1000 like they are right now.

We're seeing the low prices because the supply is up (police agencies leaving the .40 caliber they once cherished) and demand is down (lots of guns on the market, customer base perceiving a more favorable administration taking office, etc.)  The smart dealer is not going to price them high and sell them slow; they're going to price them to move them.

Buy one if you like it, and remember that the S&W 10XX series were selling below $500 once upon a time.

PD switched guns, gave their officers the chance to buy their guns and a few that were left over were offered up for sale to the public at what they were offered for them from the wholesaler. I was one of a lucky few who got one. They are all gone.

I know a national distributor had some other Sig P220R trade-ins available to dealers recently for like $400.

Correction, $375 from Amchar Wholesale. Those were P220R 4.4" DAK Trigger, one mag, and factory case. That was on December 15, so I'm sure they are sold out by now.

Maybe a year ago got a mint supposedly unfired P226 in .40 for $450 plus tax.  Gun shoots great, a lot of the .40's rep for being hard to shoot is its use in polymer framed pistols weighing under 30oz.
