I did, and it arrived today. The kit includes everything but the frame and a magazine. The slide is stamped Exeter NH Great kit for the price |

How much did it cost? There was a thread on Sig Forum a while back about P228 training guns that had some demilling done, but the frame was completely functional. They looked pretty beat but the price was good.

I saw them on sale but I did not know how much the frame would of cost.

I saw it in an email flyer they sent They didn't last long, maybe they didn't have a lot of kits As for frames, I did a quick search and didn't find frames for sale I bought it for spare parts |

Looks like they have 9 kits left. I ordered 3 last time and 3 this time. My 80% frame and jigs arrived today. Should be a fun project.

When you get your kit, report back. Just curious about consistency of condition |

I am kind of expecting it to be similar to my P6s I got 10 years ago For a used kit, I'd rate it at 7 out of 10. This is my first kit, so I'm just guessing here. The wear is cosmetic, bare metal on the slide from the holster. Finish wear on the barrel. Bore is excellent Of course, there is no way to know if the springs are still good. |

Thats a deal.
I bought one of the complete slide assemblies from Apex about a year ago. It was in decent shape. Paid 200 though. Some of these come with dead trijicon night sites. I sent my bare slide into Trijicon and they re lamped it for about 60 bucks. I used the slide to make my early non railed P229 the same as my P228, I like the balance better. My old 229 slide is getting suppressor height sights and will be dedicated for when I'm running a suppressor. I suck at the shooting through the can sight method. |

My kit shows out for delivery. I'll get pictures up after work.

P228 kits are back in stock. Looks like they have 91 kits in stock.
Make sure you check your kits when you get them. 2 of 6 of my kits were missing parts. http://www.copesdistributing.com/p228-parts-p-10391.html |

Mine came in today. Apparently I ordered 3, not 2 like I originally thought. 1 Kit has almost no wear on the slide or parts, 1 kit looks like it was carried a LOT and shot some, and 1 kit looks like it was shot and carried very little. All have trijicons which are quite dim. 90's dates. All frames marked Made In Germany and has the SIG ARMS EXETER NH on the other side.
<ETA> all 3 of my kits had all of their parts as best I could tell. I'm not intimately familiar with the P228 so if I'm missing something small I won't be shocked. I know all the big and important pieces are there though. I am contemplating ordering another kit just so I have an even number (partially to satisfy my OCD and partially because 2 is 1, 1 is none....so 4 is 2 ) Of course at that point I might as well get 2 more kits so I have 5....and then I can get the 5 pack of 80% frames at a slight discount....but then there's that whole "odd number" thing and my OCD kicking back in . Sigh....probably better to just hold what I got and buy a mini mill instead.

Thats awesome! I would wanna build one but its expensive for just one. Yea. Its pretty pricey for just one. I managed to get some friends together and we did 6 of them. That helped bring the Jig cost down and each pistol ended up being $465 complete with a mag. PM me your location in IL. If you are close enough, we could probably work out you borrowing my Jigs. |

User "dkMags" on gunbroker had some p229 frames listed, both railed and non-railed. I have a non-railed inbound for my P228 build. Shoot him an email if they're down it sounded like he had more.

I got my kit from Copes yesterday.
I am very pleased with it. The slide, functionally, is much better than my current one. It was really dirty. It does not look like it had been shot very much. But it does have lots of holster wear and even some pitting around the rear sight. I guess I will get the slide refinished. Thanks OP for letting us know about these. I love my P228 and this slide will allow me to continue to shoot my favorite hand gun for a long time! |

Matrix Precision has their jigs and frames on sale, probably, for today only. $600 for all the tools you need with a frame, frames are $240 ea.
<pro tip> if you individually add all the tools you need and a frame it's $25 cheaper than buying the bundle. The sear pin install tool comes with the rail cutter . If you're military you can stack a .mil discount on top of it as well. Got everything I needed tool wise for sigs and 1911/2011 and 3 frames for a little over $1k. If you got a tank I'll PM you the code |

Got my jigs, tools, and frames in today. Matrix does a great job packing their products for shipping, everything was either in a box or bubble wrapped quite well. The frames also look amazingly well machined. I'm very happy with them. Maybe I'll get around to completing them in the next few weeks.

One more thing is if use P228 or P226 mags in the P229 frame you can get some wobble. The P229 40/.357 cal of yesteryear and the P229-1s of today all have a slightly wider magwell than P228 and P229 9mms of old.
The P229-1 9mm magazine will eliminate that totally since it has the stepped sides of the P229 40 cal mags. Some say you can use the P228 grip screws to eliminate some play because they stick in to the mag well farther on a p229 but I don't really like that. A spacer or insert would be great but none exist. It is not a huge concern for the range because the slimmer mags can work just fine with the wobble but it is something you should know about. |
