I am looking for a beater pistol for a truck gun / heavy outdoor use and saw cdnn advertise a leo trade in 226 in .40 with night sights. It seems like a hard deal to beat.

https://www.cdnnsports.com/226r-40-vg-sa-da-ns-w-rail.html?___SID=U

Does anyone have any experience ordering leo trade ins from cdnn?

Is there another place selling em cheaper?

I got a m 226R from cdnn a year ago.

Excessive rail wear and it rattled to high heaven.

Shot well though. Ended up trading it for a Glock.

The slide rails on the frame were extremely worn down through the anodizing.

Looked to have never been lubed.

I picked up one from CDNN a couple years ago and it was in great shape... luck of the draw I guess.

There is a seller on gunbroker that goes by the name of   Phoenix_Distributors . They are in Pennsylvania. They have been running some 226 and 239 police trade in guns for the last couple weeks. They usually start the auctions around $300 and from what I've been seeing, usually only get a few bidders on them. Might be worth a watch

I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Just got it today.

Much less carry wear and tear than I expected. No real big dings or complaints. Pretty good deal for 500 bucks

Only disappointment is that night sights have gone dim. I looked it up and based on the serial number it was manufactured in 2004/5 which explains them dimming.

I'll post pics and detailed review if anyone is interested

I bought the same thing from Summit years ago. Added  357 Sig, and 9mm Barsto barrels. Great gun.

I bought a used 226 from Recoil Gunwerks on Monday and picked it up today at my FFL.  .357 Sig with one mag and all the original paperwork.  Mine was made in 2007 and its in excellent shape with minor wear.  Bought 1,000 rounds of police trade-in GoldDot for $400.  All in under $1,000 for a great pistol and a little plinking ammo.  It only came with one 12 round magazine but I can solve that minor problem.
