I bought this and a 357sig 239 pre owned (yeah yeah dumb caliber, whatever
)
I still haven't gotten around to taking pictures, and my pictures always suck anyways
turns out the 220 a 1991 German manufactured pistol. There is some slight wear on the rear of the frame rails, some slight wear marks on the barrel and a very very small rust spot on the decocker lever.
It came with two 8 round magazines marked Made in Italy Sig Sauer p220-1 .45
The slide says "Made in West Germany" on one side and SigArms Inc Exeter NH on the other. There are no marks on the frame except the serial number and some kind of proof mark that looks like a crown or something. It has the same proof mark on the slide along with a mark like a silverfish and the two letter date code.
It has regular white dot sights. I think those have to be new, or at least repainted. There is no way the paint is still that white and bright from 1991.
I didn't have a lot of time to mess around with it today. I put two magazines of Hydra shocks through it then about 75 rounds of S and B ball ammo. I've never shot a Sig before that I remember. I saw some guys with the Department of State bring their issue pistols to a class and they spoke highly of them.
It seemed accurate and didn't have any problems. I went up to the rifle range and shot it a little at 50 yards just resting my arms on the bench
(cheater). It took me a magazine to get a feel for it but it was hitting easily at 50. I had problems just probably because of my age and eyes and the overcast skies and roof over the shooting area getting a clear front sight image. I was running out of time and only had kind of small targets so I didn't try it at 100 yards.
I did think it recoiled a little more than my other 45s, but it was the only pistol I had with me so maybe it was my imagination. I did shoot one magazine up close and kind of fast and didn't so hot but that's probably lack of practice.
I did manage to hit the slide release once on an empty magazine. Not sure how I did that as the slide release is pretty stiff. It looks and feels like all the springs are new. You can see some green stuff on the recoil spring. It seemed to shoot as well double action as single action. I didn't notice any real difference while shooting it slowly just to see how it works.
There is a slight color difference between the slide and the frame. The slide is a deep black while the frame is significantly lighter.
